Qualcomm is expected to unveil its latest chipset in October. Less clear is which Android phones will be the first to brag about the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset.
Xiaomi has exclusive rights to the latest Snapdragons
A reliable source named Yogesh Brar shared on X the model names that supposedly get the new Qualcomm release first.
According to this leak, it will be Xiaomi that brings the first phones with Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 to the market. Specifically, the company is expected to put the latest mobile chipset into its smartphone lineup Xiaomi 15.
The unveiling of new devices will follow the chipset presentation
Qualcomm usually showcases its latest piece at its annual summit Snapdragon. The Chief Marketing Officer, Don McGuire, has already confirmed it will happen this year as well, with the event taking place in October. Here you can check out last year’s Summit 2023:
In terms of timing, Xiaomi will likely announce the launch of the 15 series shortly after Qualcomm officially reveals the new chipset.
Will Xiaomi models get the new chipset first?
Phone manufacturers are racing to outdo each other, because getting the lead in launching the first smartphone with a new Qualcomm chipset is a kind of confirmation of your position in the market. It seems Xiaomi really likes first places.

The company was also the first to use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset in its flagship phone lineup Xiaomi 14. Unfortunately, as is typical for the manufacturer’s phones, we expect the Xiaomi 15 series to be announced first in China.
Next up will be OnePlus and iQOO
Xiaomi may not be the only company preparing to launch a phone with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. The leak suggests Xiaomi has the right to be first to market, but OnePlus and iQOO are next in line to unveil smartphones with a flagship chipset.

It would make sense if these were the OnePlus 13 and iQOO 13 models, but time will tell whether either company is planning any surprises.
What about Samsung?
American customers can expect Samsung to be the first company to use Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 in the Galaxy S25 series. The chipset will likely be tuned specifically for Galaxy phones and launched as Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 for Galaxy. For Europeans, (probably) Exynos will have to do.
Does the new A8 from Apple beat Snapdragon 4 18 generations?
Early leaks of Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 for the new chipset are very positive, with scores reportedly exceeding the yet-unreleased A18, which will power this year’s iPhone 16 model.
Expected specifications according to the GSMArena portal

- 2x high-performance cores based on the Cortex-X5 architecture, clocked at 4000 MHz
- 6x cores based on Cortex-A730 clocked at 2800 MHz
Manufacturing process:
- made using a 3-nanometer (nm) process, which should deliver better performance and battery efficiency compared to the previous generation
Connectivity:
- we expect it to come with FastConnect 7900 with integrated UWB (Ultra-Wideband) features
