The company Redmi also offers a smartphone in its lineup with a focus on mobile photography. It’s the Redmi K30 Pro Zoom, which ranked 10th in the DxO Mark leaderboard.

The popular website DxO Mark, which focuses on in-depth testing of cameras and other attributes for mobile phones, now brings its analysis of this model.

This model hasn’t left China’s borders yet, so we don’t know the global version of this smartphone. However, we do know that it’s currently among the 10 best smartphones for photography. Let’s take a closer look at the results.

10th place in DxOMark

How do you recognize this smartphone? At first glance, it could be a practically identical phone to the Redmi K30 Pro, which in the European or global version is sold under the name POCO F2 Pro. But the Zoom version delivers a major upgrade thanks to optical stabilization.

The telephoto lens was also improved, letting you capture truly high-quality photos. The Redmi K30 Pro Zoom scored a total of 120 points, earning it 10th place in the ranking. However, it placed behind the Mi CC9 Pro Premium smartphone, which you can recognize in Europe as Xiaomi Mi Note 10 with the Pro badge.

Impressive camera—low light is the problem

In its analysis, DxO Mark explains that the Redmi K30 Pro Zoom is, from a photography perspective, a very good smartphone. Its main sensor, the SONY IMX686 with optical stabilization, delivers high-quality shots that often beat even pricier models.

The quality of zoom shots and shots using the so-called bokeh effect was also impressive, reaching a near-perfect and stable level of exposure and color. However, this holds true in environments that have plenty of ambient light.

But the situation changes dramatically as light levels drop. Rising noise kicks in, and the phone’s photographic performance is weak. According to the analysis, it has poor HDR processing, and the panoramic camera also comes with shortcomings.

The K30 Pro Zoom model can record genuinely interesting 4K videos, with a reasonable level of ambient noise and very good light conditions and detail levels. The downside is video in motion, where the final footage loses exposure and focus.
