Our favorite Chinese company Xiaomi, under its Redmi sub-brand, is already preparing a new series of affordable smartphones, under the name Redmi Note 14. These are the very first leaks of information.
Redmi Note 14: First leaks about the upcoming smartphone
The new series of budget-friendly smartphones should be launched in at least the Chinese version in September 2024. And less than three months before the launch, we can already look forward to information and details from the technical specifications.
First of all, we can mention the model designations within this series. They appeared in the IMEI database, which suggests, and also officially confirms, in which regions the devices will be sold. Here are the designations:
- 24090RA29G, 24090RA29I, 24090RA29
- 24115RA8EG, 24115RA8EI, 24115RA8E
- 24094RAD4G, 24094RAD4I, 24094RAD4C
These model designations refer to the Redmi Note 14 5G, Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G and Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G devices. So we should get at least a trio of devices.
Android 14 and the new HyperOS skin
The number “2409” at the beginning of the model designations indicates the launch date of the devices. The Redmi Note 14 series is officially confirmed, and we know it will be unveiled in September. First, the smartphones will be presented in China. Later, the devices are expected to be revealed gradually in other markets.
The Redmi Note 14 series has also been spotted in the source code of HyperOS. The top model of the series, the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G, has the internal number “O16U” and the code name “amethyst”. And Amethyst is a transparent variety of quartz, which typically shows up in shades of purple.
We already know that the code names for the Redmi Note series are taken from precious stones. This tradition continues within the Redmi Note 14 series as well. However, we haven’t yet found the code names of the other models Redmi Note 14 5G and Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G.
Naturally, we expect the news to arrive with the operating system Android 14, plus the HyperOS 1.0 skin. Following the Redmi Note 14 devices, the flagship Xiaomi 15 series will also be unveiled, in October 2024. So if you’re considering buying the current models Redmi Note 13 or Xiaomi 14, it’s worth waiting a few months for a significant upgrade to these lineups.
