What also keeps surprising us is the delivery speed. The seller lists shipping in 10-16 business days, but we’ve never waited that long for a parcel from them. We placed our Xiaomi 17 Pro Max smartphone order on 9. October 2025.

First impressions of Xiaomi 17 Pro Max
Even though so far we’ve only managed the initial setup of the phone, we already know what to share with you as our first impressions. It’s no secret that Xiaomi’s newest models are trying to get very close to the American competitor with the bitten apple—and even the manufacturer itself doesn’t hide it.
Since we also have older iPhone models, the new Xiaomi 17 Pro Max reminded us of them immediately after unpacking. Curved corners, angular shapes, the back camera design—even the – everything about it brings to mind the American competitor. On the Chinese market, Xiaomi is going pretty hard after iPhone users and trying to attract them. And how else would they do it than by making it as similar as possible to the competitor? They’re doing it smartly, but on the other hand, it might not suit die-hard Xiaomi fans.

Beyond the design, it’s a top-notch smartphone with very solid build quality. The only thing that’s a bit disappointing is the use of plastic on the back. For a flagship, they could’ve at least used an aluminum cover or glass to make it feel even more premium. Still, the plastic is made quite well—it has a matte finish and feels great in your hand.
From these quick first impressions, we can also highlight the truly beautiful OLED display, which uses a new emission system M10 with a red luminescent layer. In real life, the display is gorgeous, with a maximum brightness of up to 3500 nits—so it has no problem even in direct sunlight.
The new generation of HyperOS 3 together with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 from our first impressions is performing flawlessly—the phone literally “flies” like a rocket. We’ve also already received the first major update, which we informed you about on our website, and it should significantly improve battery life. We’ll see after thorough testing.
Of course, the most interesting feature of this model is the rear display—we’ve only had time to test it so far by taking selfies using the back camera, and the results are seriously exceptional. And we also managed to play around with a virtual avatar, a “bird,” which is a really fun part of the experience. There are more avatars, but we’ll describe everything in more detail in our review.
