Xiaomi 17 Pro Max has faced criticism since its launch for underwhelming battery life. Despite its significantly higher capacity compared to competitors like iPhone 17 Pro Max, it lasted just a little longer in the endurance test.
Xiaomi 17 Pro Max gets battery life optimization
The best-equipped flagship from our favorite manufacturer, Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, is getting a fresh software update to HyperOS 3.0.23, which comes in at a little over 7 GB. So this is a major update.
The company says it brings optimizations to improve energy efficiency, boost system performance, and overall enhance the stability of the entire software. Although this model offers nearly twice the battery capacity compared to iPhone 17 Pro, in real-world tests it lasted only 30 minutes longer, which isn’t that impressive.
Additional fixes and improvements are also available
The new system also brings improvements to power consumption management, which should be especially noticeable in more demanding scenarios like gaming or recording videos. In addition, stability during NFC use was reportedly optimized as well, leading to more reliable and faster contactless payments.
Also mentioned is the removal of bugs related to alarm notifications and video freezing during the exclusive USB mode. Xiaomi also fixed an annoying issue when switching calls between SIM cards, which caused random switching between the speaker and the earpiece.
Users will also notice the changes directly on the back display. Specifically, they relate to the “Wonderful Back Screen” feature and bring visual tweaks. It’s also worth mentioning a bug fix that caused themes to change on their own. Rendering in the photo app on the back display has also been improved.
What’s more, photo capture runs faster thanks to image processing optimization, even when the phone is almost out of battery or has a high temperature. Great news is also the improved focusing on moving objects, and the camera software works better with third-party apps. Still, we’re most curious about extending real-world battery life. We hope the result will be worth it.
