Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Ultra: Here are the first details
Just a few days before the end of the year, we finally got a specific announcement date for the new “Ultra” smartphone. Xiaomi 15 Ultra will be on sale in Europe alongside the base model Xiaomi 15, and once again we can look forward to a photo collaboration with the brand Leica.
This additional information comes after the recent translation of the Xiaomi 15 Ultra launch date in China. However, the new details should be very reliable, since they were mentioned directly in the recent broadcast by the Xiaomi Group president, Lu Weibing.
Official presentation at MWC 2025 in Barcelona!
The information was brought by blogger Kartikey Singh, and he claims that Weibing specifically mentioned the launch of the successor to the model Xiaomi 14 Ultra.
According to him, the new model branded as 15 Ultra will be officially unveiled at the Mobile World Congress 2025 (MWC 2025) trade show in Spanish Barcelona, just like its predecessor. However, this time MWC will take place a few days earlier. Specifically, from March 3 to March 6, 2025.
Indian informant Yogesh Brar also chimed in, but he mentions the date 2. March 2025, i.e. the day before the exhibition opens in Barcelona. That makes sense, because most of the major news usually comes in over the weekend before the start of the mobile tech trade fair.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite and up to 6000 mAh battery
The Xiaomi 15 Ultra model should feature the latest chip Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite and will also bring changes in the camera setup. It will most likely lose the variable aperture on the 1″ main sensor, and the ultra-wide camera will also be reduced.
That will make room for an even larger 200 MPx telephoto lens, which should offer 5x optical zoom. There will also be a change in the battery, which is expected to be up to 6000 mAh.
Along with this best-equipped model, the base flagship Xiaomi 15 should also be announced in the global version. It’s already sold in China since the end of October.
That way, the global fan will get a device that’s practically four months old. Again, it holds that the Xiaomi 15 Pro model—that in-between tier, basically—will remain exclusive to China.
