Xiaomi has officially confirmed the arrival of a new flagship smartphone called Xiaomi 17 Max. The novelty was revealed through teasers on the Chinese social network Weibo and is already generating a lot of interest among fans of big-screen smartphones.

The manufacturer is especially teasing the huge, 6.9-inch display, Leica cameras, and a massive battery that will be among the largest in the flagship class. Pre-orders are already live in China, and the official unveiling will take place during May 2026.
A large 6,9-inch display and an elegant design
Xiaomi for the 17 Max model focused on users who prefer large displays for multimedia, gaming, and productivity. The new device will offer a flat 6.9-inch panel designed to deliver slim bezels and high brightness. Based on the official teasers, it’s a premium smartphone with a minimalist look and a squared-off camera module similar to the Xiaomi 15.
The new teasers also confirmed a high-quality 2K SuperPixel display with low power consumption. Xiaomi is teasing ultra-thin symmetrical bezels and a construction with a rounded frame on all four sides, intended to provide a more comfortable grip despite the device’s large dimensions.
Unlike the Xiaomi 17 Pro (Max), you won’t find a secondary display on the back here—though that may not be a drawback at all. The back looks cleaner and more elegant. The manufacturer also officially introduced three color variants: Sky Blue, White and Pixel Black. Especially the black version, based on renders, resembles a carbon-surface imitation.
Leica cameras and a new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5
One of the main attractions will definitely be the camera. Xiaomi has officially confirmed the partnership with Leica for this model as well. According to leaks, the Xiaomi 17 Max will get a main 200 MP sensor paired with a 50 MP periscope telephoto lens with a 3x optical zoom.
One of the biggest updates is that it will be the very first smartphone from Xiaomi with a Leica-optimized 200 MP main camera. Xiaomi also shared a few technical details about the sensor itself. It’s said to offer a size of up to 1/1.4-inch and support advanced multi-shot stacking algorithms for a better dynamic range, more details, and higher-quality night photos.
Another interesting part is the way Xiaomi demonstrated the capabilities of the new camera. Three officially published photos weren’t standalone shots—they were just crops from a single 200 MP photograph. The original image was expected to be as large as 114.97 MB, and even after a significant crop it kept a very high level of detail and sharpness.
The official photo samples also suggest that Xiaomi is continuing the Leica image-processing style. The novelty is expected to deliver natural colors, stronger cinematic contrast, realistic shadows, and very good reproduction of texture and object edge details.
A smartphone should be powered by the latest chipset Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, delivering a noticeable boost in both performance and energy efficiency. You can expect top-tier performance in gaming, AI features, and photography. An ultrasonic fingerprint reader and symmetrical stereo speakers shouldn’t be missing either.
A massive 8000 mAh battery will break records
The biggest surprise, however, is the battery. According to earlier leaks, the Xiaomi 17 Max will get a battery with a capacity of up to 8000 mAh. That’s far more than most of today’s flagship phones, and even more than what Xiaomi 17 Ultra or Xiaomi 17 Pro Max offer.
Xiaomi also describes the new battery as the Jinshajiang battery, and according to the manufacturer, it’s set to be the largest аккумулятор (battery) ever seen in this brand’s flagship smartphones. The company even claims that Xiaomi 17 Max will deliver the best battery life among all smartphones in the manufacturer’s portfolio.
You can expect support for 100 W wired charging and 50 W wireless charging. Such a combo could provide two days of battery life without bigger issues even with more demanding use.
Estimated price and availability
According to a well-known leaker Digital Chat Station, the starting price of the Xiaomi 17 Max should be around 5199 Chinese yuan, which is roughly 654 euros. Considering the hardware and the spec, there’s no doubt it comes with an aggressively set price.
However, according to current information, the Xiaomi 17 Max should be available exclusively for the Chinese market at launch at the very least. A global launch hasn’t been confirmed yet, but with strong fan interest, there’s a chance the phone will show up later on international markets too.
