Great video review:
Creative design and improved video capture in one
Its compact design, built-in magnets, and the included holder make it a device that’s no problem to install literally anywhere. The design also impressed the Reddot Design Award 2019 contest jury, where this product took first place.
Xiaomi Aqara G2 offers ultra-wide coverage of 140° with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, i.e., standard Full HD. The recorded video is saved using the H.264 or H.265 codec, for example directly to a microSD card.
Thanks to a new sensor technology with increased sensitivity by up to 42%, Aqara G2 can capture brighter night video. And that’s even with up to eight infrared sensors.
The camera can also record time-lapse video. It supports two-way audio transmission, so you can talk through the camera. For connecting to the internet, it uses WiFi 2.4 GHz in the iEEE 802.11 b/g/n standard.
Security features make it the perfect guardian
This camera is called a security camera because it’s equipped with security features. It can detect both motion and sound and record video immediately. It stores footage not only locally, but also to cloud storage. That way, the video is preserved even if the device is destroyed. The owner receives an instant notification about motion in the area.
AI elements enhance recognition of the objects captured, preventing false alarms caused, for example, by pets. By pressing the button on the camera, it’s possible to record a 15 second sound video and send it to the device with which the camera is paired.
Home smart home hub
The device supports the Mi Home app, where you can pair it with other smart home devices. The camera itself also works as a central hub for other smart devices in your home. It’s built on ZigBee 3.0 technology, which offers advanced smart home solutions.
It’s designed to connect all your home electronics into one easy-to-control system. Thanks to the gateway function, you can directly connect additional ZigBee-standard devices, such as motion sensors, window/door sensors, smart switches, a smart motorized curtain track, or a smart door lock.
The camera is intended for China, but in the Mi Home app all you need to do is set the region to “China” and the camera will work just fine in Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
