There are literally just a few hours left until the official launch of the new Xiaomi 12S series. The long-discussed Xiaomi 12S Ultra smartphone was revealed through manufacturer posters. It will feature a truly enormous camera module.
This smartphone design has been circulating on the internet for quite a few months, but none of them were completely accurate. Speculation is over, though, and we finally get to see the final design of Xiaomi 12S Ultra.
What did the new posters reveal?
The company itself, via the Weibo social network, published a pair of posters showing mainly the back of the smartphone. According to the posters, the Xiaomi 12S Ultra model will have a leather back, but people are also talking about a ceramic variant.
The camera module will be in the upper half of the back panel, but as we expected, it lacks the secondary display following the model of its predecessor. The poster shows it in a black color version, but other color variants will definitely be available as well.
Recently leaked information said the smartphone will come with a 1-inch main sensor Sony IMX989. According to the poster, it will be placed in the center of the module and beneath it there will be a periscope lens. Next to the main sensor, on opposite sides, there will be an LED flash and an ultra-wide-angle lens.
We can see the Leica logo in the top-left corner. So at least the number of lenses matches the previous generations. So there’s definitely plenty to look forward to.
This we already know
As we already know, in front there will be a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with QHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. There won’t be a 20-megapixel selfie camera missing in the small central punch-hole. The heart of the phone will be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor — and this is also the main reason why the smartphone isn’t called Xiaomi 12 Ultra.
The processor will be paired with up to 12 GB RAM of LPDDR5 type and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. In addition, you’ll find Android 12 together with MIUI 13 and a 4 800 mAh battery that will support 67W wired and 50W wireless charging.
