Reports have surfaced online about a major update being rolled out for HyperOS, the layer running on modern Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO devices. Its unofficial name is known as HyperOS 1.5. What can you look forward to?
Xiaomi will fix bugs and add features
The update should bring a lot of optimizations and new features. The overall user experience is also said to improve. We expect fixes for several bugs that may appear in this firmware—maybe you’ve already noticed some. The update should already be released for these models:
- Xiaomi 14 Pro OS1.0.45.0.UNBCNXM
- Xiaomi 14 OS1.0.42.0.UNCCNXM
- Xiaomi 14 Ultra OS1.0.15.0.UNACNXM
- Redmi K60 Ultra OS1.0.15.0.UMLCNXM
- Xiaomi MIX 4 OS1.0.3.0.UKMCNXM
Xiaomi 14 Ultra is expected to receive major improvements in the camera area. More specifically, there will be a new portrait mode with a 120 mm focal length. Users will be able to choose a default focal length for the primary camera.
You’ll be able to choose from 23 mm, 28 mm, and 35 mm. Quick switching between 28 mm and 35 mm should also be available. Access to 5-x optical zoom will be easier, and you’ll be able to switch quickly to 10x, 30x, and 60x zoom.
Improved UI smoothness
As we already hinted, there will also be changes to the user experience. Apps will open faster. There will also be the much-awaited feature to prevent accidental touches from the locked screen. Personally, we’ve run into situations where our Xiaomi phone in our pocket would randomly tap, for example, numbers on the dialer from the emergency calls section. That should be a thing of the past after this update.
Other news coming from the changelog includes, for example, faster switching between running apps, improved memory usage, and the removal of other smaller bugs found across the system, but also in apps like Clock and Calculator, in widgets, or when using toggles in the top bar.
Xiaomi has, therefore, set out to fulfill the wishes of its user base. We hope the bugs reported by users will be fixed after the update is released. After the premium models mentioned above, HyperOS 1.5 will gradually roll out to other smartphones as well.
