The brand-new super-fast 5G network is slowly but surely expanding all over the world. While its launch here is still nowhere in sight, in advanced tech countries the situation is different. This is also suggested by increasingly common phones that support the 5G network.
Another 5G smartphone from Xiaomi
Xiaomi already has one phone with 5G support, and it’s an upgraded Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 that was released earlier this year. Now another model is also in the works, which should be distributed already in September / září 2019.
According to available information, this should be an upgraded version of the Xiaomi Mi 9 flagship, which we now know under two possible names – Xiaomi Mi 9S or Mi 9 5G.
Besides support for fast 5G, the new Mi 9S / Mi 9 5G will also bring a few more upgrades that will definitely please. The information came after the new phone with the code name M1908F1XE was certified. In the list of the Chinese certification authority TENAA, a smartphone appeared that supports dual standby mode and eMBB broadband connectivity technology with 5G support.
The planned phone measures 157.21 x 74.64 x 8.95 mm and is 1.34 mm thicker than the standard Mi 9. And that’s also due to the fact that the upgraded model will come with a battery capacity of up to 4000 mAh. Support for fast charging with power up to 45 W was also confirmed.
The new Mi 9 version should come with a 6.39″ AMOLED display with a FullHD+ resolution, i.e. 2340 x 1080 px. The certificate lists a processor clocked at 2.96 GHz, but it doesn’t specify the exact model. Given such a high operating frequency, we assume it’s the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+.
The alleged Xiaomi Mi 9S will be available in multiple memory versions – with 6 / 8 / 12 GB RAM, and the internal storage will offer 128 / 256 / 512 GB. The rear camera is likely not to change, and it will keep an equally high-quality setup of three sensors, with a main 48 MPx Sony sensor.
The similarity to Mi 9 isn’t a coincidence
Based on the attached images, the certified phone looks way too much like a Xiaomi Mi 9, so the speculation about an upgraded Mi 9S / Mi 9 5G could be true. As is often the case with leaked information, nothing has been officially confirmed yet, and we’ll have to wait for verified and complete information.
