Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 should get direct support for a keyboard as well as a stylus. That way it wants to compete with Apple and Samsung

The new upcoming Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 tablet has recently become a much-discussed product. Several of its specs and features have already leaked. One of them is directly confirmed by the manufacturer in the MIUI source code.

Stylus and external keyboard support

In the Telegram profile XIAOMIUI, he shared part of the MIUI source code, where Xiaomi started pointing to its new tablet. From the code you can read the display resolution, which should be 1600 x 2560 pixels in an 16:10 aspect ratio. With this step, Xiaomi is clearly going against the iPad Pro or Samsung Galaxy Tab S7.

In a recent article, we brought you information that the Chinese manufacturer has patented stylus support for its new tablet. The presence of an Apple Pencil-style touchscreen pen in the source code only confirms it. We’ll see whether this accessory will be available already in the base package like Samsung, or whether it will be sold separately, as Apple does.

An even bigger surprise is support for an external keyboard. Something similar to what Apple’s Californian competitor offers. The iPad Pro has an external keyboard built into its protective case.

Power is also handled via a set of three pins, which ensure the connection to the tablet and charging the keyboard itself. We expect a similar solution from Xiaomi.

Using a stylus and an external keyboard will definitely help improve productivity and make it more comfortable to work on such a large, fine display. We also can’t forget that the new tablet will get a desktop mode similar to the one on the folding smartphone Xiaomi Mi MIX Fold.

From these leaks, it’s clear that the launch of the new Mi Pad tablet series is just around the corner. If Xiaomi doesn’t slip up on some important aspect, it could seriously shake up the competition. Besides this tablet, we also expect the release of a “Lite” version, about which we already told you in another article. It will be interesting to see whether that one will also get support for these peripherals.
