Xiaomi Mi Watch Lite: Another certification has appeared, the launch is just around the corner

The new Xiaomi Mi Watch Lite smartwatches will be the global version of the recently announced Redmi Watch. The last two certifications outside China suggest that the launch is basically already at the door.

Xiaomi Mi Watch Lite for the global market

The watches intended for the global market are marked as REDMIWT02, and Bluetooth in version 5.1 will take care of connectivity. The new model will most likely share almost all functions with the aforementioned Redmi Watch. However, it’s possible that some changes will still happen.

Those could be more of a negative nature. For example, it’s rumored there will be no NFC and no voice assistant Amazon Alexa. Still, in Slovakia we wouldn’t really be able to use NFC for contactless payments anyway, so it’s not such a big drawback.

GPS and water resistance

The payment by watches can be done here only via Apple Watch using Apple Pay, or via Fitbit Pay and Garmin Pay services, which are offered by several models from the mentioned brands. Google Pay support in Slovakia currently applies only to smartphones.

The previous certification already revealed a few key features. The watches will be water-resistant (5ATM) and will offer a square display with a 1.4-inch diagonal and a resolution of 320 x 320 pixels. Its brightness will be regulated automatically. Worth mentioning is also the built-in GPS receiver, so during a run you can comfortably leave your smartphone at home.

Battery life shouldn’t disappoint

The battery should have a capacity of 230 mAh. The runtime is not known yet, but as we know Xiaomi, it definitely shouldn’t be insufficient. Redmi Watch with the same hardware and an equally large battery promises a runtime at the level of 7 – 12 days. Compatibility will be ensured with the operating system Android, but also iOS.

The price of the new Xiaomi Mi Watch Lite is not known yet. Redmi Watch can be bought for approximately €35. Since it will be an almost identical model, the price shouldn’t be too different.
