This Xiaomi laser distance meter is currently available from an international seller on the AliExpress marketplace. You’ll pay a few extra cents for faster delivery from the Chinese warehouse, so you can expect it at home within 10–15 business days from dispatch.
Info: The meter is currently available in the Chinese version, and it will work via the Chinese server in the Mi Home app. In the app settings, you need to select the region as Mainland China. The new laser distance meter from Xiaomi will offer truly compact dimensions. They measure just 80 x 35 x 21 millimeters. The weight is then only 60 grams, so you can keep the meter with you at all times—e.g., in your pocket.
The range of laser measuring is 0.05 – 40 meters. The measurement deviation is additionally only +/- 3 millimeters, so you can truly rely on the measurement results. The device can even subtract its own dimensions from the final measured value, so you get an exact result from wall to wall.
The meter is also very easy to operate. You take measurements with a simple press of a button on the front, and then you monitor the functions via the built-in black-and-white LCD display. The built-in 370 mAh battery gives you up to 3000 measurements on a single charge.
Mobile app and interesting features
Besides displaying the battery status and history on the screen, there’s also Bluetooth technology to connect with your smartphone (you can measure remotely via the mobile app). It also supports cloud storage for backing up your results.
In the mobile app, you’ll have all your measurement records saved, which you can then use in the built-in calculator for quick calculation of area, volume, or distance. You can draw a floor plan of the measured object and assign the measured distances to individual sides for better visualization.
You can also assign lengths of individual sides to objects in the included photo. Based on the measurements, the app will automatically suggest recommended devices and display them in the real scene.
Along with the laser distance meter itself, the package includes a charging cable with a USB Type-C connector, as well as a brief paper user manual.
