Xiaomi has officially unveiled its first smart engraving machine. You’ll find it under the Mijia brand and it also offers control via a mobile app.

New smart engraving machine: Xiaomi Mijia Laser Engraving Machine

A laser engraving machine is a very popular device, especially for creating various text or patterns in creative product making. Now your own model is also brought to you by Xiaomi under the Mijia brand.

This subsidiary brand specializes in all kinds of smart home devices. And this new engraving machine, called Xiaomi Mijia Laser Engraving Machine, is no exception either—it also offers smart features.

Here are the basic uses of a laser engraving machine:

• Personalized gift engraving
• Custom product identification
• Artistic creation
• DIY projects

Here are the technical specifications

Looking at the technical specifications, Xiaomi Mijia Laser Engraving Machine  is equipped with a powerful Sharp laser source (450 nm) with 3 W power. Thanks to that, you can use the engraving machine on a variety of materials such as leather, wood, canvas, plastic, or even kraft paper.

Dual-lens focusing provides high precision, and engraving with a thickness of just 0.25 mm. What’s more, the device doesn’t require any complex installation or ink replacement. A big advantage is smart connectivity via the manufacturer’s mobile app. Through the app, you can engrave the text, stickers, or drawings you have on your smartphone.

The construction of the Xiaomi engraving machine allows adjusting the height (it uses a ToF sensor). The package also includes a quick engraving function, which—thanks to the integrated galvanometer—offers up to 4800 mm per second.

Price and availability of the new smart engraving machine

The new product is coming to the market in China under the name Xiaomi Mijia Laser Engraving Machine, and will be sold at a recommended retail price of 1399 Chinese yuan. In the current conversion, that’s about €176.50. We don’t have any further information about global availability yet. However, it’s possible we’ll see a separate version for Europe later on, during 2024.
