Another tech gem from the Chinese brand Xiaomi has arrived at our editorial office. The unique Xiaomi MIX Fold 2, which can currently be obtained only in very limited quantities, we ordered from the best Chinese e-shop and we’ve been testing it for you for the past few days.
Right now, we’re the only editorial office in Slovakia and the Czech Republic that tests this, let’s say, exclusive piece. That’s how we’ll bring you a full review first.

If you’re a regular visitor to our website Xiaomi Planet, you definitely know that we try to test the hottest Xiaomi news as early as possible. We’re not afraid of models meant only for the Chinese market either—we regularly check whether they can be used in our region.
Since the global version of the Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 is still nowhere to be found and there aren’t even any rumors about it, we didn’t hesitate and ordered the Chinese version from TradingShenzhen as soon as it was possible. Our purchase went through on 19.8., which was still during the time when MIX Fold 2 wasn’t available in stock.
Our package was therefore shipped on August 29, when we also received the tracking number in our email. The actual delivery took just 9 DAYS, which is a fantastic result considering the parcel traveled from faraway China. Of course, we didn’t pay any extra fees on delivery either, because customs clearance as well as any possible charges are handled directly by the seller. TradingShenzhen is simply the best e-shop where you can spend thousands of euros on premium smartphones without having to worry about your money.

We filmed a quick unboxing

Even though it’s the Chinese version, it still has full network support for Europe
As we mentioned at the beginning of the article, the Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 is currently available only in the Chinese version, but this time the manufacturer built in complete network support for Europe too. It’s a rather surprising decision, especially since this year’s generation of Xiaomi Chinese flagship models didn’t come with such broad network support.
In the specs, you’ll find the B20 LTE band that’s very commonly used in Slovakia, as well as complete support for 5. generation networks. What might not suit everyone, though, is the system.
After the software page, the Chinese version is equipped with the Chinese version of the MIUI Fold overlay, which means that in the system you’ll only find two primary languages – Chinese and English. Besides that, the phone also has several preinstalled Chinese apps, but 90% of them can be uninstalled without any problems.
During use, you might sometimes come across Chinese in the system, but only sporadically—and even then in features that aren’t really usable for us. You can live with it without any problems and it works smoothly on a daily basis. If these small drawbacks don’t bother you, then the smartphone will suit you perfectly.
The seller also installs Google apps in the system, which are fully functional, and you can happily install your favorite apps. So far, we’ve managed to test Netflix and YouTube, and they work great. On the large fold-out 8.02″ LTPO AMOLED display with 2K+ resolution, it’s basically a treat to watch movies or videos.
Very bad news is that the well-known Xiaomi.EU ROM will not be available for the MIX Fold 2, as confirmed by the founder of the Czech-Slovak Miuios.cz forum. This smartphone, in fact, has a different MIUI version than the one you’ll find in regular smartphones, and unfortunately, the translation team doesn’t have the resources or time to translate it.
