The successor to last year’s tablet lineup, Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro, is officially here. It was unveiled for the home Chinese market. We’ve also received the official reveal together with the flagship smartphone Xiaomi 14 Ultra. So what does the new tablet bring?

Presentation of the Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro

The Chinese giant Xiaomi describes its newly unveiled tablet Pad 6S Pro with a focus on performance, display, battery, and network transfer speeds improvements. The full spec list only confirms it. The new device features the familiar design, though refined in some aspects. The chassis is just 6.26 millimeters thick and the device weighs only 590 grams.

The Pad 6S Pro tablet debuts with the older chipset Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Last year’s model Pad 6 Pro came with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip. The LCD display can boast a resolution of up to 3K, expanding over a 12.4-inch diagonal with a 3:2 aspect ratio.

The tablet is therefore made for productivity and will display web content brilliantly. Maximum brightness reaches 900 nits. A smoother user experience is ensured by the high refresh rate of 144 Hz, and the touch sampling rate is set at 360 Hz. On top of the great visual experience, you can also look forward to refined audio thanks to a six-speaker system.

Great display and fast charging

The tablet also comes with support for ultra-modern Wi-Fi 7, and it will definitely make users happy with 120 W fast charging. This is a very solid upgrade from the 67 W charging supported by the older Pad 6 Max. An interesting feature is the implementation of so-called “Pogo” pins that enable 22.5 W charging in an electric vehicle from Xiaomi.

The 10,000 mAh battery will be fully charged in a relatively short time. That quick power delivery is handled by chips labeled Surge P2 and G1. For photography, there’s a rear sensor with a resolution of 50 MP, which allows 4K video recording at 60 fps. On the front, the manufacturer placed a 32 MP sensor for video calls and occasional “selfies”.

What about prices—and will we get a global version?

The tablet runs Android 14 with HyperOS as the overlay, enabling even better connectivity with mobile devices, smart home setups, computers, or the already mentioned car. The new model also supports accessories like the Smart Touch Keyboard, featuring dedicated keys for controlling brightness and volume.

A handy feature is fast data transfer between the tablet and a mobile phone via the built-in NFC module in the keyboard. For writing or drawing directly on the screen, support for the Xiaomi Focus Stylus pen comes in handy.

Top memory variant Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro offers 16 GB RAM and 1 TB internal storage. Of course, the listed prices apply only to the Chinese market, and once the tablet comes to us, expect higher prices. There will also be cheaper versions with smaller memory options. Here are all of them:

  • 8 GB / 256 GB: 425 €
  • 12 GB / 256 GB: 462 €
  • 12 GB / 512 GB: 513 €
  • 16 GB / 1 TB: 578 €

The debut of a tablet for the global market could, in theory, take place during the MWC 2024 trade show in Barcelona, which kicks off on February 26. However, this hasn’t been confirmed yet, and official information so far only mentions the release of new tablets in the Chinese market.
