The first tablet with Xiaomi’s own most powerful chip has passed performance tests, beating the Snapdragon by 20 %

Quick summary

  • Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro Max appeared in Geekbench as the very first tablet with its own chipset XRING O3.
  • It scored 3,471 points in single-core and 13,229 in multi-core — in multi-core it’s 15 to 20% ahead of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
  • The record confirms 16 GB RAM and Android 17; the graphics should be handled by the Mali G2 Ultra NX with 16 cores.
  • The cheaper Pad 9 Pro leak says it will get a 12.5″ display with 3.2K resolution, Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, and an 11,000 mAh battery.
  • The flagship model is expected to arrive in September; so far, it’s for the Chinese market only.

We only know the custom XRING O3 chipset from phones so far — the first independent tests showed that in multi-core it left both Snapdragon and Apple behind. Now it’s been revealed how well it performs outside mobile. The flagship tablet Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro Max has appeared in the Geekbench database, and it’s an interesting read for two reasons.

Geekbench: 3 471 and 13 229 points

The tablet with the model number M367FC racked up 3,471 points in the single-core test and 13,229 in the multi-core test in Geekbench 6, as first noticed by the web GSMArena. The single-core result is just below the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, but in the multi-core test it’s 15 to 20% higher — and that’s in a tablet where the chip has more room for cooling than in a phone.

You need to take the numbers with a grain of salt, and from two sources at once. They’re lower than the 15,000 points Xiaomi itself claimed for XRING O3 — which is completely normal for a pre-production unit with immature software and thermal management. At the same time, the database also shows a slightly higher entry: Notebookcheck reports 3,541 and 14,153 points. In other words, the final numbers are still not set in stone.

Ten cores, 16 GB RAM and Android 17

The chipset configuration in the record matches what Xiaomi published during the XRING O3 launch. It’s a ten-core CPU in three tiers — two C1-Ultra cores at 4.36 GHz, four C1-Premium cores at 3.69 GHz, and four C1-Pro cores at 3.15 GHz. Graphics are handled by the Mali G2 Ultra NX with 16 cores.

The tested unit had 16 GB of RAM and ran Android 17, i.e. the system that Xiaomi corresponds to with HyperOS 4. From leaks, for the Pro Max we’re talking about a 13.3-inch display, a battery over 10,000 mAh, and performance charging of 120 W.

The cheaper Pad 9 Pro will go with the Snapdragon

What’s interesting is that the custom chip will arrive only on the top model. According to a leak from leaker Digital Chat Station on Weibo, which Gizmochina brought via Gizmochina, the Pad 9 Pro will be built on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 — a 3nm chip with eight Oryon cores and Adreno 829 graphics.

Besides the chip, the Pro version should also get a 12.5-inch LCD panel with 3.2K resolution and a refresh rate of up to 144 Hz, plus a 11,000 mAh battery with 67W charging. Compared to the current Pad 8 Pro with an 11.2-inch display and a 9,200 mAh battery, this is a bigger diagonal and roughly a fifth larger cell with the same charging speed.

The full lineup and when we’ll get it

The Rad Pad 9 is said to have three models: the base Pad 9 with an 11.2-inch display, the Pad 9 Pro with 12.5 inches, and the top-tier Pad 9 Pro Max with 13.3 inches. The custom XRING O3 will only go to the last one, while the other two should stay with Qualcomm chips.

The Pad 9 Pro Max launch has been confirmed for September 2026, and for now we’re talking about the Chinese market—Xiaomi hasn’t said anything about a global version. With tablets, they often reach Europe with a delay and sometimes with a different chip, so it’s still too early for final conclusions.
