Xiaomi presents a new e-book reader, the Xiaomi Paper Book Pro II, with a 7.8″ E-ink display and 6 weeks of battery life

Our favorite Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi has officially unveiled a new e-book reader this time, called Xiaomi Paper Book Pro II. In its lineup, you get a 7.8″ E-Ink display and an up to 3200 mAh battery.

Xiaomi Paper Book Pro II: 7.8″ E-Ink display and Rockchip processor

The new e-book reader from Xiaomi, you can find it for sale under the name Xiaomi Paper Book Pro II. Its specs include a large, up to 7.8″ E-Ink display that supports color temperature adjustment (regulating cool vs. warm shades). It has a resolution of 1872 x 1404 pixels for a sharp 300 ppi, plus up to 24 brightness levels.

This product comes with a minimalist design in a matte black color. It has a slim body just 7 millimeters thick and a low weight of only 250 grams. Thanks to that, you can comfortably carry this reader and read on the go.

Paper Book Pro II hides under the hood a Rockchip RK3566 processor (which, by the way, can also be found in the popular Quartz64 Model B mini-computer). This processor offers four Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2 GHz, along with a Mali-G52 2EE GPU chip. It’s also paired with 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage.

Thanks to its hardware specs, the device’s speed has also been improved—up to half as fast as the previous first-generation model. The reader supports file formats .pdf and .txt, as well as standard e-book formats (such as .epub).

You can also view Excel documents and PowerPoint presentations, so this model’s use cases go beyond just reading at home—you can use it in the office too. Xiaomi says the new product lasts up to 6 weeks on a single charge thanks to the integrated 3200 mAh battery.

Price and availability of the new device

The new generation of e-book reader, Xiaomi Paper Book Pro II, will start selling only on the domestic Chinese market. The official retail price is 1199 Chinese yuan, which currently comes to about 169 € / 188 USD. For now, we don’t have any additional information about a global launch.
