Xiaomi has registered a new brand called Xiaomi Mobile. Could it be a mobile operator?

Chinese giant Xiaomi has registered a trademark under the name Xiaomi Mobile. We don’t know exactly what it’s meant for yet, but it’s expected that Xiaomi wants to launch its own telecom service.

A new telecom operator?

On the ITHome website, we can read that, besides the Xiaomi Mobile name, a new logo was also registered. The logo itself looks like sticks on a signal indicator for mobile devices.

The last “stick” is shorter and symbolizes the letter i, just like in the classic Xiaomi logo. This strongly suggests that Xiaomi is getting ready for a very big project.

According to the registry, this brand will focus on managing real estate for finance, selling advertising, and communication services. It could be a company offering communication services, including internet access.

We also learned that this year Xiaomi has applied to register several trademarks, such as Juyoudian, Shenxian Second Charge, Xiaomi People, and Mi Credit.

More information is still unknown. It’s really interesting that Xiaomi is getting into a project like this, and it should definitely be a big success back in their home market, China. We’d be very curious to see when this project is revealed and whether, over time, we might also see it outside China—such as in Europe.

The car project is still taking shape

However, Xiaomi also has another huge project in the works. Yes, we’re talking about their first electric car. We know the company has already invested $10 billion into it.

At first, its arrival was expected in year 2022, but a more realistic date is rather year 2024. A major investment also requires big responsibility, and the company doesn’t want to rush anything until their first electric car is fully ready and tested.

How would you like Xiaomi as a telecom operator? Do you think they’d make it to Europe too? Write your thoughts in the comments below the article. Follow the XiaomiPlanet website, subscribe to the newsletter, and join our Facebook group as well, where we build an active Xiaomi community.
