Getting WiFi 7 at home cheaper is hard, because with our coupon your Xiaomi Router BE3600 costs under 60 € including delivery and without customs duty. For that price, you get a dual-band router with four antennas that supports a mesh network with up to ten routers and even draws a signal map across your whole apartment in the app. Note: it’s not the older model with a 2.5G port we wrote about in spring, but the new version—it has four gigabit ports.
WiFi 7 for the whole apartment at the price of a standard router
The router is sold by GShopper, Xiaomi’s official store, and they ship it without any shipping fees—you don’t pay customs duty (clo) or VAT either. It’s the China version, so the package also includes an adapter for our outlets and you set it up via the Mi Home app, where you switch the region to China (Mainland China) when adding the router. Keep your app language, and the router’s web interface will also work with a browser translator.

What WiFi 7 in this router really gives you
The router transmits simultaneously on two bands: on 2.4 GHz it reaches a theoretical 688 Mb/s, and on 5 GHz with a 160 MHz channel width up to 2,882 Mb/s. Together, that’s 3,570 Mb/s, which Xiaomi rounds in the model name to 3600. Compared to WiFi 6, the manufacturer says it delivers 44% higher real throughput, thanks to 4K QAM modulation with speeds 20% higher, plus the MLO feature, which lets your phone stay connected to both bands at the same time.
However, don’t expect miracles with an older phone or laptop, because you’ll only get the full benefits of WiFi 7 on devices that support this standard. The router doesn’t even have the 6 GHz band you’ll find in more expensive tri-band models, but for a typical apartment with a couple of dozen devices, these two bands are more than enough.
Stronger signal and mesh with up to ten routers
Besides four high-gain antennas, the router also uses Xtra Range 3.0 technology on MediaTek Filogic chips, which pushes the signal on 5 GHz further and through multiple walls. Xiaomi promises a stable connection even in more distant rooms, and the router filters out fake signals by itself.
When one router for the whole house isn’t enough, you add more and connect them into a mesh network that supports up to ten routers. As you move around the home, your phone switches to the nearest router within milliseconds. You can also link the routers with a cable, which is more stable than a wireless connection. And if one of them goes offline, the network is restored in less than one second, according to the manufacturer.
Four gigabit ports, IPTV, and two connections at once
On the back there are four gigabit ports, and you can set each one as either WAN or LAN—so the router can handle two internet connections at the same time and link their speeds. You can also reserve a port for an IPTV set-top box, which will please anyone who has TV via cable from their provider.
You won’t find a faster port than gigabit here either, so if your home internet is above 1 Gb/s, it’s better to go with the older BE3600 with a 2,5G port or the BE3600 Pro model. For typical fiber to 1 Gb/s, it doesn’t really matter. The gaming accelerators Xiaomi includes for testing are Chinese NetEase UU and Qiyou services, so you probably won’t use them here.
Signal map and parental controls in the app
In the Mi Home app, you’ll find a signal map that shows how strong your WiFi is in each room, and based on that you can move the router to where it covers the most. Xiaomi smart devices connect to it without entering a password, and when you change the WiFi network password, the router sends the new one to them automatically.
Parents will appreciate the feature that limits kids’ time in games and videos, or blocks inappropriate websites. Security is handled by WPA3 encryption and a firewall—on top of that, you can enable a guest network, and the router also prevents your neighbor from connecting to your WiFi.
