The well-known Chinese tech giant, Xiaomi, presented today at its conference not only flagship smartphones, but also accessories that are definitely worth mentioning. Along with the Xiaomi Watch S4, the popular sports band labeled Xiaomi Smart Band 9 Pro also received improvements over the base version, bringing several upgrades.
It’s important to note that the conference was aimed at the Chinese market, and availability of the products in the global market is not yet known.
Premium display and metal body
The highlight on the front of the new Xiaomi Smart Band 9 Pro is the 1.74″ AMOLED display, which, with brightness up to as much as 1200 nits, ensures perfect readability in sunlight. The display refresh rate is 60 Hz, which is more than enough for a device of this type.
On the sides, it got a subtle curved design with ultra-thin bezels measuring just 2.2 mm. The display therefore looks truly exclusive and brings a more elegant look to this segment as well.
For the first time in the history of this sports band series, a metal body has been used. It is very light, yet it still offers sufficient resistance and strength. It provides water resistance certification of 5ATM. Its thickness is only 10.8 mm and it weighs under 25 grams. On your wrist, you won’t even feel it. It comes in three color variants — black, silver, and pink.
Improved health and sports monitoring
Health function monitoring has also been improved. Thanks to upgraded, highly sensitive sensors and a new algorithm, heart rate tracking will be even more accurate. Deeper collaboration with medical institutions has brought upgrades in sleep monitoring, which is now much more detailed.
Support for tracking sports activities wasn’t forgotten either. This time you can choose from over 150 different sports. With support for the GNSS satellite system, position detection has improved by up to 33%, delivering a more detailed view of your routes.
You’ll also appreciate the tight cooperation with Apple’s ecosystem, so you can sync all your health and sports data with the Apple Health app.
Battery life and smart features
From a battery-life perspective, there’s been an inter-generational 50% improvement. With normal use, it can last up to 21 days on a single charge. Always On Display still slightly reduces battery life to a steady great 10 days. With more intensive use, you’ll get up to 8 days.
Xiaomi Smart Band 9 Pro runs on the new generation of HyperOS 2.0, enabling perfect integration with your smartphone and support for many smart apps and features.
NFC integration is also included. The NFC chip can store cards for doors and locks, transit cards, and even car keys. There was no mention of NFC payments, so we can most likely completely forget about support for them.
Price and availability
The upgraded Xiaomi Smart Band 9 Pro sports band will be sold exclusively in the Chinese market for now. We’ll need to wait some more time for its global unveiling.
The band went on sale in three color options — black, pink, and silver. Its price on the Chinese market was set at 399 yuan (51 €), but it’s expected that the global versions will generally be a bit more expensive.
