Our favorite Chinese company Xiaomi has officially launched its first 3K smart home camera called Xiaomi Smart Camera 3. It comes with a compact design, person tracking, and support for the 5 GHz Wi‑Fi band.
Xiaomi Smart Camera 3: For the first time 3K resolution and 5 GHz Wi‑Fi
Xiaomi keeps expanding its range of indoor smart cameras. This time, a new model Xiaomi Smart Camera 3, has appeared on the Chinese market, offering an excellent price-to-performance ratio, high resolution, and AI features for recognizing people and tracking them.
In terms of design, the camera follows in the footsteps of its predecessors. It comes in a matte white colorway with compact dimensions of 119 × 78 × 78 mm. The build supports an operating temperature range from -10 °C to 45 °C and includes a slot for inserting a microSD memory card, plus a swiveling joint. The rotation angles are 360° horizontally and 109° vertically.
Major changes have taken place in the recording section. The integrated 5 MPx sensor delivers up to 3K resolution (Ultra Clear, 2960 x 1666 pixels). Along with sharper object details, you’ll also get night vision with eight LEDs and video recording with the H.265 codec.
Night vision is achieved without spreading the typical red light, which is definitely a plus at this price. The package also includes a new security chip Mijia with a unique key and certificate to preserve users’ recording privacy.
As for connectivity, you get dual Wi‑Fi with 802.11 a/b/g/n (2.4 GHz / 5 GHz), as well as integration with the popular mobile app Xiaomi Home. The built-in speaker and microphone ensure two-way communication and capture your voice from up to 8 meters away. Power to the camera is provided via a modern, universal USB Type‑C connector.
