Xiaomi won’t stick to just one car. This is the model Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, a prototype of a brutal sports special with three motors, tested even on the legendary German track Nürburgring.

Xiaomi SU7 Ultra: Prototype of a special with a trio of motors!

One of the biggest surprises Xiaomi showed us at its event yesterday. The racing special Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is very lightweight and truly powerful. Even though the original leaks suggested the arrival of an SUV, Lei Jun once again surprised us—bringing a vehicle that shares only a little with an SUV.

Let’s start with a design that’s truly stylish. It has a huge air intake opening through the hood, plus a racing look that’s typical of vehicles from the beginning of the century. A standout feature is the yellow paint, along with a massive rear spoiler, side skirts, and bumpers. Built primarily for the track, it naturally also keeps features of the base SU7 model it’s based on.

Aerodynamic upgrades and more than 1500 horsepower

According to official information, this prototype has a “full carbon-fiber” design, with 100% of the frame made from carbon fiber material. It’s mainly about weight reduction. According to the IT Home website, up to 15 m² of carbon materials were used for this vehicle. The result is a weight reduced to just 1900 kilograms, beating many modern gasoline and diesel cars.

In addition, the manufacturer also thought about aerodynamics. In its SU7 Ultra, it rebuilt the construction into a fixed racing configuration with a large rear diffuser. The vehicle’s maximum setup showed a value of 2145 kilograms, which is more than the weight of the car itself.

The standard Xiaomi SU7 is an electric vehicle with a single motor, while the SU7 Max has two motors. The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, built for pure sporty fun, boosts performance by offering up to three top motors: a twin V8s motor and a V6s motor, resulting in Xiaomi’s “super motor” V8s. It has 27,200 revolutions per minute and an astronomical power output of 1,548 horsepower.

Numbers don’t lie, and that means acceleration can’t be an exception. These acceleration figures are provided by the manufacturer:

  • Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 1,97 seconds
  • From 0 to 200 km/h in 5,96 seconds
  • From 0 to 300 km/h in 15,07 seconds
  • Top speed over 350 km/h

And to get this kind of raw power, the car gets its first battery in the world: Ningde Times Kirin II—offering maximum output of 1 330 kW, 20 % battery performance still up to 800 kW, maximum voltage of 897 V, and charging is also possible at 5,2 °C.

It also has a track-focused braking system, AP Racing, with six-piston front and six-piston rear calipers, a braking distance of 25 meters / 100 km, and maximum recuperation of kinetic energy at 0.6 G.

Lap record on the Nürburgring in less than 3 months

The Chinese manufacturer wants to establish itself in the TOP 5 in terms of automotive brands—especially in the electric vehicle sector. At the same time, it also wants to rack up wins on the most demanding tracks. That’s why Xiaomi tests its vehicle on the well-known track Nürburgring.

This track is 20 kilometers long and features 40 left-hand corners, 50 right-hand corners, and an elevation difference of 300 meters. Built in 1927, it’s called the „Green Hell“. That’s why it’s one of the most feared tracks where vehicles are tested. And Xiaomi is testing there too—to demonstrate the very strong mechanical side of its vehicle on a complicated course.

So far, at the Nürburgring, Xiaomi has achieved its best lap time of 7 minutes and 10 seconds. For perspective, it’s less than 3 seconds away from the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT record from last March, which stands at 7 minutes and 7,55 seconds.
