After a very long time, Xiaomi is introducing a new generation of its smart TVs. Xiaomi smart TVs are very popular in their home country, China, but also in India, where they are market leaders in sales. Even though they are not officially sold in Europe yet, we may see that happen sometime—just like we did with smartphones.

The just-announced series of smart TVs from Xiaomi includes a special model with a 65-inch diagonal and an ultra-thin body. It’s a wall TV – Xiaomi Mi Mural TV.
65″ „wallpaper TV“ by Xiaomi
So-called „wallpaper TV“ or wall-mounted TV was first introduced by LG. Chinese Xiaomi is coming with the same concept and presents a 65-inch wall smart TV. Its thickness is just 13.9 mm, and in China it will be available for 6999 yuan, which is €925 / 23 800 CZK. For comparison, the price of the LG model, SIGNATURE OLED65W7V, is a hefty 8099 euros.
The equipment of the Xiaomi model doesn’t differ that much, though. The Xiaomi Mi Mural TV works on a very similar principle to the LG competitor. It will be mounted on the wall using only the actual 65″ 4K HDR display with a thickness of just 13.9 mm, while the main „brain“ of the TV is separate and connects to the display via a special cable – Mi Port.
„The main brain“ connects via cables
This was developed by Xiaomi itself. Mi Port is capable of transmitting data at 18 Gb/s and can handle power up to 400 W. The processor, as well as the speakers and all other components, are placed in a separate module – Xiaomi TV Soundbare.
Inside, you’ll find a 64-bit 4-core Amlogic processor, 2 GB RAM, 32 GB storage, dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 4.2, 3 x HDMI and 2 x USB ports. Besides that, it comes with a solid audio setup – 6 speakers enhanced with Dolby Audio and DTS-HD sound improvements. This TV soundbar also includes a separate subwoofer.
It can imitate paintings
On the software side, the Xiaomi Mi Mural TV comes with its own MIUI TV overlay with a lot of Chinese multimedia content. It’s also directly tied to Xiaomi’s AIoT platform, and you can control smart home devices from the TV itself. Full-featured voice control via an intelligent remote is also included.
Since this is a wall TV that tries to blend in with the images, Xiaomi added a few classic paintings to the software, with up to 22 genres and 45 artists. With one click, the TV turns into a beautiful painting. Users can also display family photos or their own personalized images.
