Xiaomi Watch 2: 1.43″ AMOLED display and WearOS operating system
The Xiaomi Watch 2 smartwatches feature an elegant design with a rounded body and a mid-frame made of an aluminum alloy. On the front, they have a 1.43″ AMOLED display, and you can use gestures to control the watch or even remotely trigger your camera. You also get a camera preview directly on the watch display, and it supports video recording.
This model runs on the Google Wear OS operating system. You’ll find 5 pre-installed apps—the most commonly used ones—while they also support more than 200 other third-party apps. Contactless payments via the Google Wallet app are also included.
Performance is handled by the integrated Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1. dual-core architecture, which enables autonomous switching between high performance and low power consumption. There’s also a large 32 GB internal storage for data and 2 GB of RAM memory.
160 sports modes, SpO2 monitoring and 495 mAh battery
The watches offer heart-rate monitoring, blood oxygen monitoring (SpO2), as well as built-in GPS and water- and dust-resistance with 5ATM certification. Xiaomi Watch 2 support more than 160 sports modes, including new winter sports modes. They can record the distance and average speed of each run and even map your skiing tracks.
Dual-band GNSS L1+L5 helps users accurately determine their location while skiing or in other demanding environments. After working with Strava, Xiaomi expanded its collaboration with Suunto. This allows users to easily sync their sports data and sleep data between the Mi Fitness app and third-party apps.
Xiaomi Watch 2 offer an improved and very accurate health monitoring experience thanks also to the upgraded 12-channel heart rate monitoring module. The sleep monitoring algorithm has also been improved, taking into account SpO2 monitoring and breathing monitoring for a comprehensive analysis. The Mi Fitness app also offers the so-called “Sleep Pets”, which graphically represent your sleep quality based on the past 7 days.
When it comes to connectivity, Xiaomi Watch 2 come with Bluetooth 5.2 technology, but they also support Wi-Fi and NFC. Xiaomi claims a 65-hour battery life on a single charge, with the battery capacity capped at 495 mAh.
Price and availability of the new Xiaomi smartwatches
The Xiaomi Watch 2 smartwatches will be available in black and silver color options, at an official retail price of €199. We don’t know the official in-store sales start date yet. As part of the package, there will be several types of interchangeable wrist straps to choose from.
