Design and build quality
Most smartwatches have a very similar design, and nothing is different in this case either. Manufacturers stick to a proven classic and don’t try to experiment with their design for the sake of it. TicWatch Pro 5 have an aluminum frame with the label 7000, while Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro have a steel frame.

With Mobvoi, the company that makes TicWatch, you can choose from two color options: black and sand. In both color versions, the frame is also in the same color. Xiaomi goes with standard colors, so you get black and brown, but in the brown version the watch frame is glossy stainless steel, while the brown is only on the strap.

While TicWatch offers silicone straps in both color variants, Xiaomi has a silicone strap only in the black variant. In the brown color, the strap is made of leather. TicWatch Pro 5 have a diameter of 50 mm, but weigh only 44.3 g, even though the Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro are 46 mm smaller but heavier. Their weight is 54.5 g.
Design is pretty subjective, but we personally like Xiaomi watches more.
Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro vs Ticwatch Pro 5: Display
Both smart watch models being compared feature an AMOLED display with a 1.43″ diagonal. They also have the same resolution of 466 x 466 px and a pixel density of 326 PPI. The brightness of the Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro is rated at 600 nits, while TicWatch does not state this figure. Unofficial sources list brightness at 1000 nits.
However, the key element in this category is the TicWatch Pro 5 secondary display—kind of a trump card for this brand. In addition to the standard AMOLED display, there’s also a second, power-saving display on top of it. It provides an alternative to an always-on display, during which the AMOLED screen is inactive, saving battery life.
On the other hand, this second display isn’t color and looks a bit like the screen on traditional digital watches, which may not appeal to everyone. Thanks to this secondary display, the TicWatch Pro 5 has a clear advantage over Xiaomi.
Xiaomi also offers an LTE version.
When buying the Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro, you can choose between the Bluetooth and LTE versions, while TicWatch doesn’t offer that option. TicWatch Pro 5 are available only in the Bluetooth version. So the tables turn: after TicWatch’s display advantage, Xiaomi brings a big new feature in the form of eSIM support.
With the Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro, you can add an eSIM that lets you make calls via the watch even when your smartphone isn’t nearby. Unfortunately, our mobile operators don’t offer the ability to duplicate your phone number onto an eSIM, so you’ll need to load a different eSIM into the watch—which means a second phone number.
TicWatch Pro 5 only offer standard Bluetooth calling, so in this category Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro is the clear winner if you buy the LTE version.
Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro vs Ticwatch Pro 5: Operating system
Both models run on the popular watch operating system from Google—WearOS. They also share the same version, 3.5. So the system is the same, and neither manufacturer states how many WearOS updates we should expect. We don’t know the support period in this case.
Thanks to Google’s system, the watches offer the ability to install various apps like Spotify, Strava, and more. In this respect, both models are almost the same. One of the few differences is that Google Assistant isn’t available on Mobvoi watches.
The LTE version of Xiaomi, however, has a small additional advantage, because along with its own eSIM it also comes with a separate internet data connection—without needing your smartphone or a WiFi network.
Tracking vital functions and sports activity
Measuring heart rate, tracking activity during sports, or measuring SpO2 or sleep length and quality is already a given for almost all smart watches. It’s no different here, and these features are available on both models.
Unfortunately, we can’t compare the accuracy of these measurements because we don’t have them available for a direct comparison. Still, based on the specs, we expect higher GPS accuracy when tracking activity on the Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro. That’s because these are the first watches to support dual-band GNSS.
If you also checked our parameter table, you might have noticed that Xiaomi watches have a few more sensors than TicWatch models. However, since we currently can’t test the accuracy of measurements on the Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro, we can only say that, according to the specifications, Xiaomi watches could have a slight edge.
Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro vs Ticwatch Pro 5: Battery and battery life
WearOS smart watches are packed with features and apps, and that comes with a price. They’re notoriously known for short battery life on a single charge. If you’re familiar with WearOS smart watches, you’ll know that TicWatch is the king of battery life thanks to its power-saving display.
The Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro has a 495 mAh battery and manufacturer-rated battery life of 65 hours, while TicWatch Pro 5 has up to 628 mAh battery and manufacturer-rated battery life of 80 hours.
During real-world testing of the TicWatch Pro 5 smartwatches, we also got them to last at around 2 and a half days even with intensive use, while most owners of other WearOS watches have to charge their watches every day.
Hardware and price
Both watch models are powered by a Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 processor. They also have the same RAM capacity, 2 GB, as well as the same internal storage capacity, 32 GB.

Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro vs Ticwatch Pro 5: Overall verdict
So which watches are better, and which one should you buy if you’re looking for a WearOS smart watch? Personally, we’d go for the Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro in the LTE version, since it offers the option to add an eSIM—unlocking calls even without having your smartphone nearby.
On the other hand, if you’re looking for the best possible battery life on a single charge, the clear winner is the TicWatch Pro 5 with its secondary power-saving display.
