The company Xiaomi is once again pushing the boundaries—and this time it’s heading straight into the world of electric supercars. CEO Lei Jun has officially confirmed the arrival of the Xiaomi YU7 GT, which is said to be an extremely powerful electric SUV with specs that feel more like a hypercar than a family car.

The new model is set to debut on the Chinese market by the end of May, and according to early information it’s an ambitious project combining performance, luxury, and a long range. The development of this supercar was handled by the biggest automotive “brains” that Xiaomi “stole” from other premium automakers like BMW, Porsche, Lamborghini, and Rolls Royce.
GT philosophy in a modern electric style
The GT badge in the name isn’t random. It comes from the Italian “Gran Turismo,” meaning comfortable and fast long-distance travel. The Xiaomi YU7 GT is supposed to embody exactly that—high performance, comfort, and long range all in one package. In other words, it’s a car that can handle spirited driving as well as long trips without compromises.
According to the manufacturer, it should be a “true-blood GT” that delivers a real driving experience. The focus on the driver is clear, but it still needs to remain a practical SUV. This exact combination is what today’s customers are looking for in the premium EV segment.
Extreme performance: more than 1000 hp and 300 km/h
The biggest draw of the Xiaomi YU7 GT is its brutal performance. Basic info points to up to 1003 hp, while top versions—according to leaks—can reach as high as 1526 hp. Those are numbers you typically see with hypercars, not SUVs.
Top speed is said to reach up to 300 km/h, which is an extreme figure for an electric SUV. Acceleration hasn’t been officially confirmed yet, but with this kind of power you can expect the absolute top end. Power is provided by a pair of electric motors with a combined output of 288 kW and 450 kW.
Long range and a large battery
Despite the high performance, Xiaomi hasn’t forgotten practicality either. The YU7 GT is expected to offer a range of up to 705 km according to CLTC, which is a very solid figure even by today’s standards. Energy is handled by a three-cell lithium battery from well-known Chinese manufacturers.
That means the car won’t just be a “weekend toy,” but a genuinely usable vehicle for everyday driving as well as long trips. Exactly in line with the GT philosophy that Xiaomi emphasizes.
Design: a sporty stance and aerodynamics
Right away, it’s clear that the Xiaomi YU7 GT is trying to stand out. The front end features the typical “water-like” lights known from the SU7 model, but with a more aggressive design. A long hood and wide body create a sporty “stance” that resembles racing cars.
Aerodynamics is also the interesting part—the car has up to 10 through-air channels and 19 ventilation openings. Frameless mirrors, retractable door handles, and a massive rear diffuser are also included. Overall, the design combines elegance with extreme sportiness.
Chassis and technologies for high performance
To handle performance like this, Xiaomi has equipped the YU7 GT with advanced technologies. There’s no shortage of a air suspension, active vehicle stabilization, torque vectoring for the rear axle, and an advanced traction system. Everything is tuned with an emphasis on sporty driving.
Braking is handled by Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes, which are usually found more in supercars. Combined with energy recuperation, it’s a highly efficient and safe system even at high speeds.
SUV size and practicality
Even though it’s a sporty model, it still remains an SUV. The car’s dimensions are 5015 × 2007 × 1597 mm with a 3000 mm wheelbase, which means plenty of space for passengers. It has five seats and large 21-inch wheels.
The weight is around 2460 kg, which is typical for electric cars in this category. Xiaomi is trying to balance performance with everyday usability, which is crucial for this type of vehicle.
