- Xiaomi 17 Ultra delivered over 11 hours of screen time.
- HyperOS 4 removed the system 14.7% of instructions.
- After eight hours, 33% more free RAM.
- These are first tests, not a final conclusion.
With HyperOS 4, most people talked about the glass design. But the first user measurements show that the biggest change is only noticeable later in the evening, by the battery percentage.
What early users report
On the Reddit social network, the first user experiences with the new HyperOS 4 update have appeared. The most repeated mention is Xiaomi 17 Ultra. One owner measured over 11 hours of screen-on time. At nine in the morning it started at 99%, and around ten in the evening it still had 5% left. The second says that a demanding day ends at about 40%, while on HyperOS 3 it was 25 to 30%.
You’re not alone. After the update, Xiaomi 17T Pro owners measured over 10 hours of screen-on time. The numbers match what Xiaomi promised when presenting the system.
Where does this savings come from
Xiaomi rebuilt a large part of the system from the ground up, and the biggest effort went into task planning. The Precision Workload Scheduling feature reduced the total number of executed instructions by 14.7 percent. For Xiaomi’s own apps it dropped by 27.7 percent, and for third-party apps by 9.6 percent.

The other thing is memory. Memory Preloading technology should leave 33 percent more free operational memory after eight hours of use compared to HyperOS 3. When apps don’t have to load again from storage, the processor has less work. On top of that, Xiaomi rewrote the Launcher, Weather, and Gallery apps into a more power-efficient programming language.
Be careful—these are first impressions
None of these numbers comes from an independent test. These are reports from owners who measured their normal day, and everyone’s day is different. Some users don’t feel any improvement at all, and with heavy photo taking the battery drains just as fast as before.
It’s worth waiting until the stable version rolls out to more models. So far, the update has mostly reached flagship models from the latest generation, which already had decent battery life even on the old system.
What about you
We want to know whether you can see the difference too. If you already have HyperOS 4 on your phone, vote in the poll. And in the comments, tell us the model—so we know who it works best for.
