The Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi is already preparing its third generation of the foldable smartphone under the name Xiaomi MIX Fold 3. These are the first information leaks that indicate which direction this innovative series will develop.
Xiaomi MIX Fold 3: Here are the first leaks of information
After the announcement of the new flagship devices, Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro, whose local European presentation will take place as early as next Sunday, February 26, 2023, new information leaks about other models are also showing up. One of them is the lightweight flagship Xiaomi 13 Lite, which will also reach Europe. An even more interesting smartphone is Xiaomi MIX Fold 3 as well.
The next generation of Xiaomi’s foldable smartphone is clearly in development and we already know the first information leaks related to the camera. The upgrades should set the new product apart from last year’s model MIX Fold 2, which was, however, officially sold exclusively on the domestic, Chinese market.
Still exclusive for China?
Last year’s model already bet on powerful imaging hardware developed in cooperation with Leica. The previous version did not get a global launch and, unfortunately, it looks like the upcoming generation with the label Xiaomi MIX Fold 3 will be similar. However, initial information suggests a presentation in roughly the next six months.
The partnership between Xiaomi and Leica brought great improvements to top-quality flagship cameras. However, not all models received flattering reviews for their photographic results. And that’s exactly what the Chinese manufacturer wants to change with its foldable smartphone models too.
The second generation offers a 50 MP main camera, a 13 MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 8 MP objective with a dual periscope. This configuration is expected to be updated in the third generation and it’s very likely it will also improve the resulting photo results.
The main upgrade should be a powerful optical zoom compared to the double zoom of MIX Fold 2. Despite the fact that Xiaomi is planning to improve its image sensors, it seems it will be a device with a very similar design language to last year. We’ll have to wait a bit longer for further details and specifications that will be hidden in an extremely thin build.
