The Gallery app in MIUI is getting an update full of interesting news. You can download it too

Not long ago, we published on our website Xiaomi Planet an article about the Clock app, which—via an update—gets a newer, more modern interface. A similar fate awaits the native Gallery app as well.

However, unlike the Clock app, the Gallery app will be enriched in the new update with new interesting features that, in many cases, will definitely come in handy. First, we want to point out that it’s an app from the Chinese version of the MIUI overlay, and not everything may work correctly after installation, and some of the new features from the article may be missing.

My day

If you use Google Photos, you surely know that the app continuously reminds you of photo anniversaries based on when the photos were taken. This feature will also arrive in the new MIUI Gallery version and will be called “My day”.

We downloaded the update on our editorial POCO F3 as well, installed it, but unfortunately we couldn’t find this feature there. This could be caused by bad compatibility with our device, but at least the minimum requirements for the My day feature are met (requires at least Qualcomm Snapdragon 865).

Photo and video editing

The new version of the Gallery app brings a more advanced mobile video editor, where you’ll be able to combine music, filters, and transitions between photos exactly the way you want. The developers also didn’t forget some interesting photo-editing features.

Specifically, we mean the option to automatically crop selected objects, for example people, and then change the background or remove the background to create a transparent PNG photo. For these updates, the MIUI development team deserves a big thumbs-up.

You can download the update now too

If you like the new improvements in the new Gallery app version, you can download the update to your smartphone right now too. From this link, you’ll download an APK file, which you’ll then install as an update to your current Gallery app on your smartphone.

We’ll continue to closely monitor the situation around the MIUI software skin and we’ll share all the news we find in our Xiaomi Planet tech portal.
