Xiaomi has officially started global testing of its system HyperOS 3, but it seems not all devices will have the same features. One of the most eagerly awaited updates is the so-called Hyper Island, which is visually very similar to Dynamic Island from iPhones.

Initial tests, however, show that Xiaomi will limit this feature to more expensive models only, while mid-range or lower-tier devices won’t get it.
Latest HyperOS 3 features for selected models only
HyperOS 3 will roll out to dozens of models, including the latest flagships like Xiaomi 15T and Xiaomi 15T Pro, but the big question is what users of the popular Redmi Note series will have access to.
Posts from testers on X suggest that Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G won’t officially support what may be the best third-generation add-on feature from Xiaomi, Hyper Island. It looks like the entire Redmi and Redmi Note lineup won’t get this new update.
That’s a big disappointment, because it’s precisely Note the series is among the best-selling smartphones of the brand, and a large part of the fanbase expected to try the new feature even on cheaper devices.
Full features only for high-end models
Xiaomi has likely chosen an unexpected strategy, where some new features of HyperOS 3 remain exclusive to the high-end tier. The company has shared an official update plan for both China and the global market, but while it lists the dates when each model will receive HyperOS 3, it doesn’t say anything about differences in features.
According to the latest information, smartphones from the Redmi Note 14 series will start receiving the update next month, while older models like Redmi Note 13 will have to wait until the beginning of next year.
This isn’t the first time Xiaomi has differentiated features this way by price category. In the past, some models also came with lighter versions of software add-ons.
This time, however, it may upset owners of mid-range devices, because Hyper Island is one of the features the company highlighted heavily when presenting the system. For now, it remains unclear whether it’s only a software limitation that could be bypassed, for example, via modifications or other solutions from the community itself.
Xiaomi is thus landing in a similar position to Samsung with One UI or Apple with iOS, where older or cheaper devices do get updates, but not all new features.
Owners of models from the Redmi Note series will therefore have to accept that even though they’ll have HyperOS 3, some of its most interesting features will still be reserved only for more expensive flagship devices.
