A new version of the HyperOS Launcher app has made its way online. It comes from an early development build of the system HyperOS 3.3, built on the still-unreleased Android 17. This is a build labeled RELEASE-7.00.11.6507-05261606-R (from 27.5.2026), and it has already been tested by several enthusiasts and developers.

Although this offers an interesting look into the future of the Xiaomi ecosystem, regular users shouldn’t expect major new features from this version. The launcher is one of the most important parts of the Android system. It’s what determines the look of the home screen, animations, icon and widget layout, and also the management of recently opened apps. So your everyday control of the smartphone depends largely on it.
HyperOS 3.3 is currently only in the development phase
If you were expecting a completely new design or major visual changes, you’ll likely be disappointed for now. According to early tests, the home screen appearance remains virtually unchanged. The same goes for transition animations, launcher settings, and how recently opened apps are displayed.
The most noticeable new feature is a new system notification called Android 17 Beta Warning. This notification tells the user that they’re using software intended primarily for developers and testers. Xiaomi is therefore likely preparing compatibility for its system apps with the new Android 17 APIs even before its official release.
The launcher itself was extracted from an internal test build of HyperOS 3.3. That means the current version may not reflect the final look of the system. Developers often use similar builds to test stability, compatibility, and to prepare new features that may only appear in later versions.
So it’s possible that the real news will only arrive in future updates. This current launcher feels more like a technical preparation for the upcoming Android 17 rather than a showcase of new user features.
Installation may cause issues
Although the APK file is freely available online, installing it is not risk-free. The launcher is optimized for Android 17, and backward compatibility with older system versions isn’t guaranteed. Android 15 or Android 16 users may experience app crashes, graphical glitches, or even endless home screen restarts.
Exactly these kinds of issues have also appeared among the first users. Some Xiaomi 14 smartphone owners reported that after installing the launcher, there was constant loading and system crashes. Fortunately, in most cases removing launcher updates helped via the system settings.
So the new HyperOS Launcher will be appreciated mainly by tech enthusiasts, developers, and users who like to experiment with new system versions. They can follow the changes being prepared, analyze new features, or test compatibility of their apps. If you still want to try it on your smartphone, you can download it from this page.
For the average user, however, it currently brings no real added value. The system look and feel stays practically the same, and the risk of instability clearly outweighs the potential benefits. If you use your smartphone every day for work, communication, or banking apps, it’s smarter to wait for the official release of newer HyperOS versions.
Android 17 and HyperOS 3.3 are gradually getting closer
This leak of the launcher version also suggests that Xiaomi is already actively preparing its devices for the arrival of Android 17. Even though there are still a few months until the official release of the new Android generation, these kinds of test builds are a clear sign that development is in full swing.
Right now, though, it’s more of a community curiosity than an update you should install immediately. If there are more notable updates or user-interface changes, you’ll probably see them only in later test versions of HyperOS 3.3 or the upcoming HyperOS 4.
