Xiaomi has officially confirmed the arrival of a new system, HyperOS 4. Xiaomi Group President Lu Weibing said the new version will arrive as early as summer 2026, specifically between July and August. Although the name HyperOS 4 was not mentioned directly, all available information, internal testing, and existing leaks clearly point to it.

According to Xiaomi, this won’t just be a standard update with new features. The company earlier hinted that users can expect an “alternative interactive experience,” which suggests more significant changes in both the design and how the system works. HyperOS 4 could therefore represent the biggest UI overhaul since the release of HyperOS itself.
HyperOS 4 in Liquid Glass style
One of the most discussed novelties is the alleged design language called Liquid Glass. It already appeared in the first leaked screenshots from internal system versions. Xiaomi, based on available information, is preparing a more modern user interface with a stronger focus on transparency, layered elements, and a softer blur of the background.
The leaked footage showed new options for choosing visual styles, with users able to pick between more pronounced transparent effects or a more subtle look. The changes are also expected to affect system animations, multitasking, the home screen, and contextual menus when you long-press app icons.
Artificial intelligence will play the main role
During its results presentation, Xiaomi also strongly emphasized its AI strategy. Lu Weibing described “Super AI” technologies as one of the company’s most important priorities for the coming period. HyperOS 4 is said to be designed so that AI is not just an add-on feature, but a natural part of the entire system.
A smarter approach to performance management is expected, along with better predictive features, contextual recommendations, and deeper AI integration into everyday use. Xiaomi is also working on connecting its own AI models, software, hardware, and upcoming chips into a single ecosystem.
Under the hood, HyperOS 4 should continue the technological transformation that Xiaomi started with HyperOS 3.1. Internal system versions include additional components written in the Rust programming language, known for higher security and more efficient use of system resources.
Extended use of the Flutter framework is also mentioned, as it enables creating smoother and visually more consistent apps. The result should be faster animations, lower power consumption, and better management of RAM.
What’s interesting is that Xiaomi links the development of HyperOS 4 with the current market situation as well. The manufacturer pointed to rising memory and storage prices, which increase smartphone production costs. However, instead of a major price hike, the company wants to focus on better software optimization.
That’s why we can expect a stronger focus on system efficiency, smart background process management, and better use of hardware resources. Xiaomi believes modern software can extend device lifespans while also improving the user experience—without the need for more expensive components.
When will HyperOS 4 arrive and which phones will get it?
According to official statements, HyperOS 4 should be unveiled sometime between July and August 2026. Very likely, this will happen alongside a new flagship series, Xiaomi 18. The update will first be available for the brand’s most powerful models, and then it will roll out to Redmi and Poco smartphones as well.
Although Xiaomi hasn’t shared an official list of supported devices yet, it’s expected that most models will receive the update with Android 16 and newer devices launched in recent years.
