On 11 December 2022, we witnessed how Xiaomi introduced the Xiaomi 13 series for the Chinese home market. Nobody doubts that the smartphones will also reach the global market, and even Lei Jun informed us that we won’t have to wait for long.
Global versions coming soon
Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun revealed on Twitter that the company is now getting ready to launch Xiaomi 13 series smartphones on international markets. However, he didn’t specify which ones they are, nor when it will happen.
However, we expect it to happen first at the beginning of next year. These are attractive models, so Xiaomi will want to deliver them to individual markets as soon as possible.
The final price is still uncertain. The base model Xiaomi 13 starts at the price tag of 3 999 yuan, so after conversion it’s 545 euros. The more high-end model 13 Pro again at the price of 4 999 yuan, so roughly 681 euros.
That’s why global prices are expected to be higher than Chinese prices, because the manufacturer has to add VAT, customs duty (clo), shipping costs, and other fees. For comparison, the Xiaomi 12 model in Europe started selling at official retail prices from 799 € and the 12 Pro model started at 1089 €.
Great smartphones
Otherwise, these are very well-made smartphones—not only in terms of appearance, but also regarding the remaining specs. A very interesting one is the Nano Skin technology on the back of the smartphones, making them easy to clean.
The new models went with the current most powerful processor, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, so there’s plenty of performance to go around. Especially with the new overlay MIUI 14, which focuses on optimization and performance.
The biggest selling point of the news is undoubtedly the cameras. Once again, they were tuned by Leica. We’ll have to wait for the real results, but the new models are definitely on the right track to become great camera phones.
