Two minutes faster with the same tire
Xiaomi Mijia Air Pump 3 inflates 25% faster than the previous model. In practice, Xiaomi shows it on a specific example: an empty 205/55 R16 tire reaches 2.5 bar in six minutes, while the “two” took eight.
It got there thanks to a stronger motor and a new cylinder — the pressure-cast alloy cylinder has a 21 mm diameter and higher manufacturing precision. If you’re just topping up what leaked over winter, the difference is even bigger: inflating from 2.0 to 2.5 bar takes about 75 seconds.
Six modes and accuracy to one psi
The compressor has six preset modes, so you don’t have to find the pressure manually. Auto is set to 2.5 bar (range 1.8 to 3.5 bar), motorcycle 2.4 bar (1.8 – 3.0), bicycle 45 psi (30 – 65), e-scooter 50 psi (45 – 60), and ball 8 psi (4 – 16). The sixth is a custom mode with a 3 to 150 psi range, where you can save your settings.
Pressure is measured by a digital chip sensor with ±1 psi accuracy, and it calibrates itself every time you turn it on so the readings stay accurate even at higher altitudes. The display shows the inflation progress in real time, and a refined air-release valve makes it easier to fine-tune the pressure downward.
Ten tires per charge
Inside there are two 2500 mAh batteries. Xiaomi states that on one charge you can inflate ten car tires, nineteen road-bike tires, or eighty basketballs (size seven).
It charges via USB-C, but without fast charging — a full charge from a standard 5V/2A adapter takes about three hours. There’s also LED lighting with a standard mode and an SOS blinking mode, which isn’t just a gimmick when you’re changing a tire on the road at night.
What to watch out for
Let’s be fair, there are three things to say. The battery can’t be replaced and Xiaomi doesn’t recommend opening the device. The compressor is not waterproof, so it shouldn’t be used in rain or humidity. And although it works even at -10°C, it can only be charged within 5 to 40 °C — so in winter don’t leave it overnight in the car and charge it at home.
According to Xiaomi, the battery capacity is under 100 Wh, which applies to lithium cells in carry-on luggage, so it shouldn’t be a problem to take it on a plane. However, the rules vary between airlines, so check before you travel.
And if you’d rather go for proven classics, we tested the previous generation in detail and it’s still an excellent piece — it builds on the “3” and mainly adds faster inflation.
