With this setting, the MIUI system on your Xiaomi smartphone can be much faster

Xiaomi smartphones offer one of the best price-to-performance ratios on the market. The Chinese giant’s positive pricing policy has become a strong lure for anyone considering entering the Xiaomi ecosystem, which is why the brand is doing so well.

But anyone who owns a Xiaomi smartphone has probably already run into certain software drawbacks that noticeably worsen the overall user experience. In today’s article, we’ll show you an interesting tip that can make your smartphone run much more smoothly.

Smartphone cache

In this article, we’ll show you a simple and quick process that lets you change the cache size on your smartphone. You can think of the cache as storage for temporary files that ensure the proper functioning of the system and apps.

From time to time, it’s a good idea to clear this temporary storage, because when it fills up, the phone may start showing signs of lag or slow app loading. You can clear the cache by running the cleaning process in the native MIUI app called “Security”.

Increase cache size in MIUI

In some cases, increasing your smartphone’s cache can be very beneficial. By default, Xiaomi smartphones have the cache size set to 64 or 256 kB, and in Developer options, you can increase this value up to 16 MB.

To enable Developer options, tap multiple times on the box labeled “MIUI version” in the section “About phone”. After that, all you need to do is open the item “Additional settings”, click “Developer options” at the bottom, and finally in the “Debugging” section find the option “Cache size“.

Unfortunately, there is no single universal best value. To start with, we recommend trying the cache size option 4 MB, and if you’re not happy with the result, you won’t lose anything by trying a few more options.
