China’s Xiaomi sub-brand, branded as Redmi, has launched a new line of mid-range resp. upper mid-range class devices under the name Redmi 10X.
Overall, we can fit three models into this series: Redmi 10X 4G, 5G and also Pro 5G. The smartphones scored a very solid success already within 5 minutes of sales.
100 million yuan in 5 minutes
Just a few days ago, sales of the new Redmi 10X 4G and also 5G smartphones were launched on the Chinese market. While the 5G version is brand new, the 4G model can be found for sale in Europe under the model Redmi Note 9. These are affordable smartphones that definitely don’t have to be ashamed of their specs.
A post then appeared on the social network Weibo that evaluates the strong sales success of the devices. The surprising success is revenue of 100 million Chinese yuan in just 5 minutes of selling these smartphones. For a better idea, that’s more than 12,5 million € / 14 million USD (in conversion).
The third model, Redmi 10X Pro 5G, is not being sold yet; its sales should kick off as early as June 6, 2020. This model will round out the two previously mentioned versions labeled 10X 4G and 5G.
Redmi 10X pricing policy
The prices of the individual devices are set very low as well. The base model, Redmi 10X 4G, is sold in these configurations. 4 GB RAM + 128 GB storage starts at just 999 yuan, i.e. 125 € / 140 USD. The 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage configuration then comes in at 1199 yuan, which is 150 € / 168 USD.
The Redmi 10X 5G smartphone starts at 1599 yuan for the 6 GB RAM + 64 GB storage version, i.e. 200 € / 224 USD. The 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage version costs 1799 yuan, which is 226 € / 253 USD. The 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage option is 2099 yuan, i.e. 263 € / 295 USD. The 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage model then goes for 2399 yuan, i.e. 301 € / 337 USD.
The Redmi 10X Pro 5G model, which will only hit the market in just a few days, starts with a configuration of 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage for 2399 yuan, which is 301 € / 337 USD. The top version has an 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage setup and will go on sale for 2599 yuan, i.e. 326 € / 365 USD.
Of course, these are sales prices for the domestic Chinese market. So if the smartphones also make it to Europe, you need to expect a higher price at least increased by shipping, taxes, and customs duty.
