At today’s, nearly two and a half hour press conference, the Redmi brand presented several premium new products. As expected, new smartphones Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro were unveiled, along with a new RedmiBook 14 and its very first TV.
The first Redmi TV comes with a massive 70-inch display, and with its price it lands among much smaller models from the competition. All of this is what it offers you.
The first Redmi TV delivers truly great specs
Since its beginnings, the Redmi brand has consistently pushed a policy of excellent—if not the best—value for money. The first TV from this brand is no different, as it was just unveiled.
Redmi Smart TV brings a massive, up to 70-inch display. This size gives users up to 60% more viewing area than a TV with a 55″ diagonal. The picture is delivered in 4K (3840 x 2160 px) resolution with improved HDR. This is a standard 60 Hz panel.
Great sound is handled by 2 x 10 W stereo speakers with support for Dolby Audio and DTS-HD, making the audio cleaner and more natural across a wide range.
Packed with components
The Redmi TV is powered by a 64-bit Amlogic processor, with 4 Cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz. It is supported by a Mali-450 MP3 GPU with a clock speed of up to 750 MHz. The Redmi TV comes with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage.
You can connect almost anything
Connectivity is handled by the wireless Bluetooth interface, version 4.2. That means you can easily connect a smartphone, headphones, and many other accessories to the Redmi TV. Using this technology, the remote control with support for voice control and QR code scanning is also connected.
Of course, it also includes support for WiFi in the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands, and the 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac standard. The Redmi Smart TV also has 3 x HDMI ports, 2 x USB, LAN, S/PDIF, and an AV input.
Smart features are the foundation of a smart TV
Just like Xiaomi Mi TV televisions, the new TV from Redmi also comes with support for a voice assistant and the PatchWall user interface. In addition, Redmi TV supports the Mi Home app through which you can control various elements of the smart home.
Not only at home— the manufacturer also recommends using the Redmi TV in an office. It handles various presentations with WPS Office support without any issues.
As always, a shocking price at the end
The new Redmi Smart TV will be sold in China for a price of 3799 yuan, which works out to about 479 € / 12 380 kč. Whether we’ll see a global sale remains to be seen, but we’d definitely love to welcome this piece of electronics here as well.
