The Redmi brand has revealed that it will use the latest Snapdragon 888 from Qualcomm in its upcoming flagship. Together with the parent brand Xiaomi, they will be among the first to arrive with smartphones featuring the new processor.
Redmi K40 will be among the first to get Snapdragon 888
This year’s latest Qualcomm processor won’t carry the classic name with a trailing 5. It will be the Snapdragon 888, which should bring higher performance and efficiency again, with power consumption expected to drop. The fact that the upcoming flagship model in the form of Xiaomi Mi 11 will receive the new Qualcomm processor was recently officially confirmed.
Besides Xiaomi, however, we also have separate Redmi already. Their new smartphones, which will be introduced next year, will traditionally follow the K series. These will be the Redmi K40 and Redmi K40 Pro models. After that, we will probably also get the well-known T models here in our region.
Despite the fact that we currently have absolutely no information about the smartphones mentioned above, one was revealed by the company’s own CEO Redmi in a post on the social network Weibo. Presumably both smartphones should also be equipped with the latest Qualcomm processor, and thus the Snapdragon 888.
Redmi has also used flagship processors with its previous models in the form of Redmi K20 Pro and K30 Pro, which together with the rest of the hardware ran flawlessly.
The expected Redmi K40 Pro will therefore be one of the first, along with Xiaomi Mi 11, to be able to taste Qualcomm's new release. It will presumably be again the most powerful mobile processor on the market.
