The launch of the new Xiaomi 13 series is fast approaching, and we know it will happen as early as December 11. The models will also be interesting thanks to their back panel, because the manufacturer will use a leather finish.
Most smartphone makers use the most common options for the back, such as glass with a glossy or matte finish, plastic, aluminum, or in rare cases even ceramics. So a leather finish is something completely new.
Nano Skin technology
According to the official preview, the Xiaomi 13 series will include a new technology called Nano Skin. It’s a new material that Xiaomi uses on the back panel of its premium devices. In practice, Nano Skin technology makes the device easier to clean, because the surface is more resistant to dust and colors.
That way, all dirt can be wiped off the back cover much more easily—using a regular paper towel. Xiaomi wants this to help you keep your new smartphone looking like new for as long as possible.
Xiaomi also shared another video showing the premium design of the more powerful Xiaomi 13 Pro model in all its glory—even in high resolution. It highlights water and dust resistance, which finally ensures an IP68 certification, something Xiaomi fans have been calling for for years. You can watch the video below:
It will be the top of the market
The base Xiaomi 13 model will come with a 6.36-inch Full HD AMOLED flat display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The 13 Pro model will feature a slightly curved 6.73-inch AMOLED display with 2K resolution and the same refresh rate.
Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro will be equipped with the currently best processor, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, LPDDR5x RAM, and UFS 4.0 storage. The Pro model will have a main 1-inch 50-megapixel Sony IMX 989 camera.
The base model will include a 4,500 mAh battery along with 67W wired charging, while the 13 Pro model will have a 4,820 mAh battery with up to 120W charging. But that won’t be all—Xiaomi will introduce several more products right away.
It won’t be just about smartphones
We expect a pair of confirmed smartphones—Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro, the new layer of MIUI 14, smartwatches Xiaomi Watch S2, Buds 4 earbuds, and the first desktop computer from this Chinese manufacturer. It’s possible that Xiaomi has even more up its sleeve.
