It’s been a while since the release of the latest MIUI customization layer. MIUI 12 has already been received by many Xiaomi smartphones, but not all of them yet. This time, the company focused on updating its Redmi Note 9 series.
The MIUI 12 update will start on October 20.
The latest stable global MIUI 12 version will be received by the Redmi Note 9, 9 Pro, and 9S smartphones. Even though these are the newest models in the Redmi Note series, the update is only arriving now.
As for the update of these smartphones, they already received the MIUI 12 update, but so far only in their home China and India. These are models that aren’t available in our market.
Many older models received the update much earlier, which is a bit hard to understand. The Redmi Note series is not only very popular and well-liked in our region, and so this late update is a slight disappointment for many fans who have been waiting for it practically since the announcement of MIUI 12.
This is a very strange move from Xiaomi when you consider that the Redmi Note 9 series smartphones officially debuted in May this year, and they will be getting an update together with the more than 2-year-old Xiaomi Mi 8.
Official Xiaomi support recently also replied to one of the fans, who asked about the mentioned update to the latest MIUI 12. However, the update doesn’t apply to smartphones with the European EEA ROM. It’s a global version that all smartphones from the Redmi Note 9 lineup will receive.
The rollout will be gradual, starting on 20th October. So it may take a few days before all users get it on their devices.
Xiaomi hasn’t released an exact schedule of the update days, but if everything goes according to plan, by the end of this month all owners of these smartphones could have the update available on their devices.
