Premium build quality, excellent compact display

The moment you first pick up the new Xiaomi 17, you immediately understand that no expense was spared on the materials. The manufacturer opted for a fairly minimalist design, which thanks to LIPO technology pushes the screen edges right up to the very borders. Bezel thickness of just 1.18 mm is almost invisible, creating the feeling that you’re holding only pure imagery in your hand.

In both cases, you get an OLED display with a maximum brightness of up to 3500 nits. They use LTPO technology, which in practice means they can dynamically adjust the refresh rate from 1 Hz to 120 Hz. If you have sensitive eyes, you’ll also appreciate support for 2160 Hz PWM dimming at low brightness, preventing that annoying screen flicker. The resolution is 1220 x 2656 px.

The manufacturer claims 30% higher drop resistance, and combined with the IP68 certification (plus additional IP69 for the Ultra), these new devices become strong companions for any weather.

Leica cameras as the centerpiece

Now we’re getting to what makes the Xiaomi 17 series truly special. It’s again a collaboration with the iconic brand Leica. This time, though, it’s not just a logo slapped onto the back cover—it’s deep, strategic cooperation. Even though the biggest camera innovations come with the Ultra model, the standard Xiaomi 17 doesn’t fall behind.

It features a 50 MPx sensor called Light Fusion 950 with huge pixels sized at 2.4 μm, along with excellent dynamic range of 13.5 EV, putting a few years-old DSLR in your pocket.

It’s paired with a 60 mm telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom, supporting macro from 10 cm and 20x AI Ultra Zoom. An ultra-wide lens with a 102° field of view offers a 50 MP sensor. On the front there’s a “selfie” camera, again with a resolution of 50 MP.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 takes the spotlight

Under the hood, the fastest machine comes from the most powerful move by Qualcomm – Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. It’s made using the modern 3 nm TSMC process, and together with the third-gen Oryon processor it delivers performance that simply has no real limits today.

Whether it’s demanding 8K video editing, gaming the latest titles at full detail, or advanced AI computations via the Hexagon processor, everything runs at maximum smoothness with absolutely no hesitation.

We’re already used to smaller batteries

Xiaomi hasn’t forgotten to make sure you have this performance available for as long as possible. A more compact standard model surprises with a huge Si/C battery, 6,330 mAh, plus lightning-fast 100 W charging.
