The Xiaomi company is no longer a newcomer on the tech scene and wants to grow its portfolio of artificial intelligence. According to the latest available information, the Chinese manufacturer is bringing in as many as four new partners for development.
Xiaomi in artificial intelligence
Artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things (IoT) are increasingly gaining ground in today’s tech market and aren’t just a shot in the dark of future technology. This is an area where Xiaomi is not only one of the most important players, but also one of the most respected brands.
Xiaomi has therefore decided, through top managers, to create an experienced team that will be responsible mainly for managing and developing new products in artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things.
Four new leadership roles
Today, Lei Jun, the current CEO and co-founder of the Xiaomi brand, has decided to appoint this group of four new senior executives. If we take a closer look at these names, they aren’t unfamiliar—some of them have been part of the Xiaomi ecosystem for a long time.
Lu Weibing, the current vice president of the Xiaomi brand or general manager of the Redmi subsidiary brand, will also work on developing new products. Among the other names taking part are Zhang Feng, Chew Shouzi, as well as Wang Xiang, senior vice president of Xiaomi.

These four leadership roles will be part of Xiaomi’s board of directors focused on technological progress, in the interest of research in artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things. This step will complement the brand’s billion-level investment strategy over the next few years.
We can’t forget about the start of the year 2020. Xiaomi has clearly stated that in the coming years its investments into the aforementioned artificial intelligence and Internet of Things sector will exceed the value of 50 billion Chinese yuan. In the current conversion, that’s more than 6 billion € / 7,2 billion USD.
These investments are truly high, and together with the appointment of new leadership positions, they are a sign that the Chinese manufacturer wants to be genuinely active in this extremely interesting sector.
