This is how the photo quality of the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra improved after updating to DxOmark software

The best Xiaomi camera phone that made it to the top of the camera ranking on DxOmark is getting an update with the software it was just tested with. Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra thus brings further camera improvements.

DxOmark ranking

The well-known commercial platform DxOmark tests lenses and cameras, including the ones found in smartphones. It’s especially popular thanks to its ranking of the best camera phones, where right now Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra is in the lead.

It overtook the previous leader, the Huawei Mate 40 Pro+, and overall scored up to 143 points. However, many people don’t trust DxOmark too much, because it’s a commercial site and the tested smartphones may have slightly different software than what regular users receive.

It’s no different with Xiaomi, but this time even smartphones meant for end users will get the updates.

Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra: MIUI version 12.5.4.0

The information about the rollout of the software update from the DxOmark test was published directly by the manufacturer on its social network Weibo, one of the most popular in China.

The MIUI update is labeled 12.5.4.0 and we’re also waiting for it so we can realistically compare whether it brings any improvements.

What optimizations will the new update bring?

Mi 11 Ultra improves the DxOmark-tested camera by up to 13 optimization changes compared to the current version. After continuous tuning, the Mi 11 Ultra camera is enhanced, and after the update it will take photos faster, deliver more accurate color reproduction, and an improved ultra-wide-angle correction against distortion.

Xiaomi also shared sample photos, where we can see several improvements. The smartphone can better eliminate harsh light glare during night photography, offers more vibrant colors, and more detail when recording video.

The main camera from the trio of rear cameras on the Mi 11 Ultra has a 50 MPx resolution and is the well-known Samsung ISOCELL GN2 sensor, which also includes optical image stabilization. This sensor is complemented by a 48 MPx ultra-wide-angle SONY IMX586 lens and a 48 MPx telephoto lens, also from Sony.
