Xiaomi MIX Fold 4 is a beautiful piece of hardware

Xiaomi MIX Fold 4 is made from highly durable carbon fiber T800H. Using this material also ensured weight reduction of the device to 226 grams. So it’s the lightest foldable smartphone on the current market. The flexible hinge, of course the most critical part of any such phone, can handle up to 500,000 folding cycles without any problem. The thickness of the folded device reaches 9.47 mm, and when opened it pleasantly surprises with a thickness of just 4.59 mm.

Xiaomi has thus managed to get closer to the competing model Honor Magic V3, which is currently the thinnest. Despite the very small thickness, the phone will be very reliable thanks to the so-called Dragon Bone Engine 2.0. You’ll also appreciate the water-resistance certification, IPX8. Compared to the predecessor, Xiaomi MIX Fold 3, you’ve probably noticed the rounded camera module. The power button also serves as a security feature and there’s a fingerprint scanner.

Fold-type foldable smartphones like this “Fold” serve not only as a phone, but also as a tablet. The front, external screen of this new model has a 6.56-inch diagonal. It’s an OLED panel with rounded edges. When you open it, you’ll find a 7.98-inch OLED display with 2K resolution. Both screens have a 120 Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision certification, and maximum (HBM) brightness of 1700 nits. Peak brightness is up to 3000 nits.

The internal display subtly hides a secondary front camera. You can expect the best performance on the market, provided by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip in combination with 12 GB or 16 GB of RAM. There’s also 256 / 512 / 1024 GB of internal storage for the operating system and user data.

The battery has a capacity of 5100 mAh and supports 67 W wired and 50 W wireless charging. To limit heat buildup inside Xiaomi MIX Fold 4, there’s also an ultra-thin vapor chamber to ensure better temperature distribution and more efficient cooling of the internal components.

For photography lovers, it features a 50 MP main sensor, paired with a 12 MP wide-angle lens and two telephoto lenses that offer 2x and 5x optical zoom. Color tuning from Leica is also included.
