We no longer have to introduce the popular user interface MIUI in detail. On Xiaomi and Redmi smartphones, it has been working since the beginning, and developers are diligently working on its latest version MIUI 12.
It’s official: MIUI 12 will come this year
First information about MIUI 12 came already in October /říjnu 2019. Now representatives of Xiaomi have released an official statement that MIUI 12 is on the way and will be presented this year.
This info and the new logo you can see above is probably all from the information provided about MIUI 12. At the moment, the update to the final MIUI 11 is still ongoing on some devices. It was released in September / září 2019.
Back then, the new version brought dark mode to the user interface, a new typeface „Mi Lan Pro“, more customization for ambient display, but also many other graphical and security improvements.
What will MIUI 12 bring?
What we can expect from the new version of this nice overlay for now is not known. In the past, though, we’ve informed you several times about some enhancements that have already appeared in software test versions, but until now they haven’t been officially ported.
We mean, for example, the option to scan documents with the camera, adding the feature app drawer – app menu, improved display calibration, or more efficient audio output setup.
All these features were revealed in software test versions, so it’s possible that, among other improvements, the new MIUI 12 will also bring them. We also don’t know the date or more specific timeframe for the release of the new MIUI version. It’s more than likely that the manufacturer will prepare the unveiling for the release of one of its new flagship smartphones.
Development since year 2010
As we mentioned at the beginning, the MIUI software overlay is here with us and with Xiaomi devices since the very start. It’s even the first product of the then newly formed company Xiaomi in year 2010.
For the first time, it was introduced on a smartphone Xiaomi Mi 1 in August 2011 in version 2.3. Since then, the company has been continuously updating this software, and if we look at test weekly versions, there could already be 444 of them since that time.
Before the official unveiling of the new MIUI version, its test versions will appear first, revealing to us what’s new MIUI 12 will bring. We’ll share new information soon.
