Xiaomi is finally launching on the global market its long-awaited smart home product – Xiaomi Self-Install Smart Lock. It’s the first Xiaomi smart lock made specifically for European customers, including Matter compatibility, voice control support, remote control via WiFi, and easy installation without the need for drilling.

Secure unlocking even without a key

The new Xiaomi smart lock model supports up to 8 unlocking methods, including fingerprint, permanent, one-time and time-limited passwords, Bluetooth unlocking, remote control via the app, and even a classic key.

Control via voice assistants like Alexa, Google Assistant, or Siri is also available. The interesting feature is the virtual password, which lets you enter random numbers before and after the correct password—helping protect your entry from prying eyes.

There’s also the forced-unlock alert function, which will notify other household members if a user is forced to open the door against their will. The security system also detects multiple failed password attempts, and after 10 incorrect tries the lock will be blocked for 90 seconds.

Full control via the app and WiFi connection

The lock supports WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity and can be easily paired with the Xiaomi Home app. In this app, you’ll get an overview of unlocking history, and you can receive notifications when household members leave and arrive, alerts if the door is left open (requires a sensor), or security warnings.

The auto-lock feature activates after the door is closed and a set, adjustable time has passed. If a door sensor isn’t installed, the lock will lock based on a pre-set time. App control is intuitive and gives you quick access to all security functions.

Easy installation without drilling

The name “Self-Install” doesn’t lie. This smart lock is designed so you can install it yourself with absolutely no drilling. It’s compatible with most euro-profile locks (including euro cruciform, Scandinavian, or ASSA 2000). In the box, you’ll find everything you need for installation—just use screws or double-sided tape, and the lock is ready to use.

Multiple installation scenarios are supported, including inserting it through the keyhole (if the key doesn’t exceed 37 mm) or direct mounting on the latch. The entire process is clearly documented, and even a less tech-savvy user can handle it.

Protection at the highest level

Safety is handled by the MJA1 chip, which meets the European cybersecurity certification EN18031. This gives the lock comprehensive protection for both software and hardware. If someone attempts to disassemble the keypad, an alert is immediately sent to the app.

The system also includes an IP65 water-resistant keypad, which can withstand wind and rain. The lock body is made from quality materials (ABS + PC), with a 99.3% identification accuracy for fingerprints. This means fast and precise recognition of users.

Matter Support: Finally an open ecosystem

The lock body has a built-in 2450 mAh lithium battery, offering an estimated 6 months of use with normal operation (8 openings per day). The keypad uses 2 AA batteries. All batteries are, of course, replaceable, and the app will alert you when their level is low.

The lock is designed for extreme conditions and can handle temperatures from -10 to +55°C. Dust and water resistance are ensured—tests included 48-hour salt and frost load tests.
