Xiaomi continues its rapid expansion in the automotive market, and after the success of its electric models SU7 and YU7, it’s bringing another major novelty. The Chinese manufacturer has officially revealed the first technical specs of a completely new Xiaomi Skynomad model line, focused on a large family SUV with EREV technology (Extended Range Electric Vehicle). The new series will initially consist of two models – Skynomad N70 and the larger Skynomad N90.

Unlike the more sporty-oriented Xiaomi Auto electric vehicles, the new Skynomad models will prioritize maximum comfort, space for the whole family, and a very long driving range. The technical data appeared in the database of the Chinese ministry during the vehicle approval process for sale, which means we now know practically all the key parameters.

EREV technology: Electric drive with a gasoline generator

Both models use the modern EREV technology. That means the wheels are powered exclusively by electric motors, while the gasoline engine is not used for direct driving of the vehicle. Its job is to generate electrical energy for the battery during driving, which significantly extends the total range.

Xiaomi used a new turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder with an output of 150 hp for both models. Thanks to the large batteries, the new SUVs can cover hundreds of kilometers purely on electric power, and once the generator is turned on, they offer a total range exceeding the threshold customers of large family SUVs expect today.

Xiaomi Skynomad N70: Bigger than the Mercedes GLE

The Skynomad N70 is the entry version of the new family. Even so, it definitely isn’t a small SUV. The vehicle measures 4,960 mm in length, has a wheelbase of 2,950 mm, and is even a few centimeters longer than the Mercedes-Benz GLE.

The base version features a single electric motor on the rear axle with power of 210 kW (282 hp). Energy is supplied by a 52 kWh LFP battery from Sunwoda, enabling an electric range of about 270 kilometers. The combined gasoline consumption after the battery is depleted is only 5.8 l/100 km.

For demanding customers, a N70 Max all-wheel-drive version will also be available. A second electric motor on the front axle increases system output to 310 kW (416 hp). A larger 76 kWh NMC battery from CALB will provide an electric range of up to 380 kilometers.

Xiaomi Skynomad N90: A luxury SUV for big families

The real flagship will be the Xiaomi Skynomad N90. It’s a full-size SUV with an incredible length of 5,285 mm and a 3,080 mm wheelbase, which even beats the Mercedes-Benz GLS.

The interior will be available in five- and seven-seat configurations. Xiaomi also prepared a few very unconventional solutions. The front seats will be able to rotate by 180 degrees, creating a space reminiscent of a living room or a conference room. The manufacturer has already hinted that the vehicle will be suitable for family trips, camping, or a mobile office.

Under the hood, you’ll find the same technology as in the N70 Max model. Combined output will reach 416 hp, the battery will have a capacity of 76 kWh, and the all-electric range will be about 370 kilometers. The maximum speed of both models is 190 km/h.

Design with LiDAR and a focus on intelligent technologies

You’ll recognize both models by their distinctive LED headlights, ring-shaped rear lights, and the roof-mounted LiDAR sensor. That suggests Xiaomi is working on advanced driver-assistance systems and next-generation autonomous features.

The N70 will come with electrically retractable side running boards, while the larger N90 will target customers looking for maximum comfort and flexible interior space. Xiaomi also hints that Skynomad won’t be competing with sporty models like SU7 or YU7, but instead will be an entirely new branch focused on families and travel.

Sales of Xiaomi cars are steadily rising, and during just the first half of 2026 the company delivered over 185 thousand vehicles. Entering the large family SUV segment could be another major step in expanding its lineup.

If Xiaomi manages to keep the aggressive pricing strategy it’s made famous with the SU7, Skynomad N70 and N90 could become very strong competitors to Li Auto, NIO, and Aito. The official unveiling of both new vehicles is expected within the coming months.
