The much-anticipated Xiaomi SU7 electric car will finally hit Chinese roads on March 28. This marks a major milestone in Xiaomi’s journey from smartphones to a diverse product ecosystem that now also includes electric vehicles.
Official China debut this month!
After securing key approvals from Chinese regulators last summer, it’s more than certain that electric cars will also be added to Xiaomi’s product lineup worldwide. According to the portal MundoXiaomi, Xiaomi became only the fourth company in the past six years to obtain these approvals.
The SU7 model made its European debut at Mobile World Congress 2024, where we were there as well and brought you a look at the electric car live. As part of the official launch in the Chinese market, Xiaomi SU7 will arrive at 59 dealerships in 29 Chinese cities from March 28, when the first pre-order deliveries for the electric vehicle will also begin.
Starting from that day, Xiaomi will offer demo models for test drives, which interested users can reserve from March 25. While we don’t know pricing details yet, expectations are high. After all, this is a flagship model designed to directly take on Tesla, signaling Xiaomi’s intention to compete with established players in the electric-vehicle market.
Europe still has no clear timeline
Plans for international expansion are, of course, expected in the future—especially within Europe. However, based on the information available so far, it could take several years before the SU7 reaches Western markets.
Since no fixed timeline has been set yet, European fans may have to wait until 2026–2027 to experience Xiaomi’s electric marvel firsthand. The Chinese manufacturer hopes that, in the medium to long term, it will manage to surpass the 20 million units mark.
